I found the banner on EBAY, I bought the sign from a fellow E Talker who had sold his Elise.

Yes. You can see the truck in the back. There are some better photos of it in the linked collection.

The best part is that all of his cars are drivers and most he actively races. His stories about taking his ex-Schumacher F1 car to our local track are jaw-dropping.

Only the Yellow Elise is mine. The house, and one of the F GTs, belongs to a enthusiast who leads some great drives through the Sierra Montians on occasion.

A final pic of the house that goes along with this very unique garage...

But the garage has unprotected windows.

Well I'm in the process of building a garage......
Unfortunately I do NOT have a lot of space or a huge $$$ budget. So I'm doing a a lot by myself and expanding my "two car garage" ( that is how it was listed in the house, it's really a 3/4 car garage).

I want a car lift... so I go to the Los angeles dept of building services to get a building permit.

Surprise #1: It seems that one can NOT have a car lift in a residential area. And if it's commercial it needs to be 300' from the next neighbour. ( the most I can get away from one is 30'.....)
Oh and they told me that it is against city code to fix your own car in your own garage - you can ONLY do basic maintenance

Surprise #2: in order to get the plans approved for a tall ( >8' garage, I have to have them drawn up by a structural engineer!! (Hey it's just $2k+)

Well - the upper back yard is already dug up and filled with sand, rebar etc...

I hope at least somebody can laugh at this post.... and feel better about their garage!

One of my neighbors built a long, narrow garage. Inside he has two 4-post lifts. He runs a local Vette club and he keeps four parked in his garage -- end-to-end, stacked two high.

Perhaps you could justify a lift and tall garage if you state the purpose as vertical storage.

Another neighbor built a 20X44 garage with 12+ ft ceiling for his RV. Paying a structural engineer is probably a good idea, anyway, when you go tall and wide. He used a local CAD service for the plans and had the necessary structural engineering plans drawn up by the company that built the roof trusses. An old buddy of his was a construction foreman for over 35 years, built thousands of houses in the area, and he supervised the construction.

I'm planning a similar garage and hope to get the same guy to build mine (probably for 5% commission). I'm planning a 20X46 with 12+ ft ceiling (probably coffered) and will have a 5"-6" slab near the back where I can add a lift later -- a Rotary brand 2-post. Of course, the lift is only for basic maintenance like changing oil and rotating tires.

We had a few layoffs where I work at the end of May... if business looks good in September, I'll get started.

So these cars in that garage are not owned by whomever owns the garage?

If so, what was the point - to see if they fit?

Wow, that garage is amazing! I'd love to have something like that one day.

But when planning out my dream garage, I run into the same problem the owner of that garage seems to run into: how do you get all the cars out??
