Good God...a perfect pair for the dream garage

Stole this 7 photo from the "for sale" section. The Lambo was something I took a couple of photos of at the dealer (look at that motor!!). Just add a CO Exige and this would be my perfect garage. Just a lowly M100 owner dreaming...

To me, all Diablo's look like a kit. I'm not a big fan of their bodywork.

Hmmm...interesting take on it. I can only assume that a factory dealer wouldn't be servicing a customer's "kit". However, if we could label one mass manufacturer (or speacialy manufacturer) a builder of "kits", it would be without question Lotus. Mine sure feels and behaves like one!

Here's another shot of that "kit" thing...seems pretty convincing.

For what it's worth, I'm certain that it's not a kit. It's a Diablo GTR. Also, if you think about it, a kit with a Lamborghini engine doesn't make a lot of sense.

Lame intake hoses...I'd expect better on a car with that kind of performance, that makes me think of black dryer hose.

I'm surprised someone bothered to paint the intakes gold, especially on the more motorsport-oriented GTR model. Maybe the owner leaves his racing suit unzipped to show off his abundant chest hair and medallions.

It's one of those cheap Lambo body kits assembled at the factory on a Lambo chassis and driveline.

xtn

PS - It doesn't appear to be a GTR at all. Wrong wing. Wrong intake. Wrong exhaust. Unless that stuff all changed from the pictures I've seen.

As for those girls...Definately not OEM! Wanna talk about kits? Look at the "aftermarket" chests!

Actually, I'm not sure what model this is but I looked at a GTR picture on the web...the valve covers on that car are gold too, but the intake is a different arrangement. Either way, I think the orange/gold looks original.

Yes, after further investigation, I would like to officially declare that I have no idea what I'm talking about. The original GTR had gold valve cover/intake manifold thingies, but there are a few other details about this car that don't add up. There were only 40 GTRs built by the factory and apparently they are the most highly sought after Diablos. Details that all GTRs had that his car doesn't is plexiglass side windows, a different wing, different wheels, and a roof mounted snorkel that rounted air directly to the intake, eliminating the rear window in the process.

It still doesn't make sense to me that this would be a kit, but rather a Diablo that was given the J.C. Whitney treatment to make it look like a "sought after" GTR.

A thousand pardons for sounding like I knew what I was talking about earlier . . .

It sounds like you know way more than I do. The tech at the dealer is a friend of mine so I called him to see what it was. He really didn't know excpet it is not a GTR or other racing model. All he knows is that it runs out at Willow and the guy also owns a 340R (!). He said the car was in for suspension set-up and that it will embarrass a lot of track-worthy cars. Anyway, for what it's worth, I still want it.
