Ridiculous tool box - but I want it
this just showed up in a pop up add in yahoo. It's completely ridiculous, but I think I need one. If you look close it has a mini fridge and a pioneer sound system built in. Now if only my garage had enough room for it. Another fine example of why the rest of the world hates us.

I found one site that lists it at $1600. Lowes carries Kobalt tools but I'm guessing this one is a special order item.

I saw this in our local Lowes - price was around $1600. Looks great in person - I stood drooling at it for 10 mins
![]() .........trouble is you would have to invest a further $3K in new tools!!

This would solve a lot of problems associated with wrenching while sober.

Like alil'brit, I have also seen this in person in Lowe's. It is extremely nice. They had it plugged in with the radio on. Drawers were smooth opening/closing. It was a little too tall for me to see into the top opening (I'm 5'10") at first but then I realized that it was sitting on a 4" raised platform
. Once I stood on tippy toe I was pleased. Didn't buy it, but pleased none the less.

I really really want a big enough garage to fit one of these in.
Single car garages suck, what was I thinking when I bought this house with only a single car. ![]()

I actually bought a Kobalt tool chest in stainless that looked similar to this one but w/out the lights/stereo/fridge. I had it loaded into my truck, got it home and unpacked, and one piece was pretty badly damaged. I took it back and we went through the couple they had in inventory and something was wrong with all of them.
I ended up buying something else, but I think I'd have been more persistent if it had had a fridge...

I have a serious problem with all-in-one devices like this. Sure, they seem like a cool idea when you get them, but what happens when the $50 refrigerator component burns out? Then you have to pay $300 to replace or fix it, or deal with an overpriced extra storage compartment. And what about the stereo? It'll be obsolete in a year.
No, you're better off getting a separate mini-fridge in S.S. finish for $99 and a "normal" tool chest for < $1000. Pocket the $500 (or use it to build a sweet high-quality in-ceiling sound system with remote) and leave the headaches behind. My 2 cents. |
