Extra track day at Barber for LOG29 Poll

UPDATE: THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN FOLKS. TOO EXPENSIVE AND NOT ENOUGH INTEREST.

If you plan to attend LOG29, we have a few questions about adding an extra track day:

Question 1 - I am interested in an extra track day
Question 1 - I am NOT interested in an extra track day

Question 2 - The most I would pay for an extra track day is $300
Question 2 - The most I would pay for an extra track day is $250
Question 2 - The most I would pay for an extra track day is $200

Question 3 – I would like to sponsor the track day

If you would like to be a sponsor for an extra track day, please feel free to either post your willingness to sponsor the event and an amount, or feel free to PM me if you don't feel like sharing that amount with everyone.

This would be the day after and it's probably not going to happen. Getting people to pay what it would cost if they actually paid the cost (18K) or adding sponsorship (who are already tapped out because of the first track day) looks to be tough.

Right now the 4 people who said that they would do it would only add up to $1050. That's a LONG way from 18K.

That said, it's still a long way out. We might be able to do it. Or maybe we could go to a different track in the area, but I'd really have my heart set on doing another day at the same track.

Here's an idea: Get Barber to do a 'try before you buy' day on Tuesday.

Is this Lotus only? I have a race @ Barber (BMW Club Race) 11/15-11/16 and wouldn't mind getting some seat time in before the event. By the way, I am quick to give point by's.

We had a two day track day at LOG 26 in Texas and it went very well. Offering the two day event actually helped to bring money to the overall event. As it stands it was the only LOG to make a profit.

To answer your question, yes I would stick around for a two day-er, if work allows.
An additional 200 to 250 is not to bad.

That makes 5.

Sorry Al, definitely not true. LOG 27 made a respectable profit. I was LLtd treasurer at the time, so I didn't have to dream this up.

Hey Al, you really should check your figures about LOG as LOG 25 in St. Louis made a small profit as well.

TGP is a fun track, particularly in a low hp, grippy, car- Lotus of Atlanta gathers there about once a year-

Here's a video...

Not sure about that track Gripp. While the price is great, its usually a lot more fun to spend two days at a track instead of one.

Do you have a link to the track layout? How far is it from where we will be?

I'm in for a second day. I was able to do a practice session at Barber in a F500. Man, I thought VIR was nice ... Barber beat it hands down. Pavement is very smooth relatively short straightaways, and some very technical turns including blind over the hill turn ins. It will definitely test your abilities. It also has some good sand traps on many of the turns. I'm itching to go back with my F600 when it comes back from the shop. I think I saw alternate (i.e. non-Lotus) cars are allowed for the track day correct? Its about 6 hours for me so I will get my wife to drive the Elise down and I'll tow the F600.

Just make sure to check with the track day organizers to make sure that open wheeled cars are allowed.

I'll be helping with the instructing, so I think I'll need to take your F600 for a few laps first to make sure its safe.

At LOG 27 one session was for race cars which included numerous Lotus formula cars and sports racer types. You can't have a LOG track day and exclude all the formula cars. That would wrong.

EDIT: My F600 should be one of the first road racing cars ready for track time. I'm converting a F500 KBS Mk.7 to run a '09 600cc GSX-R! Hello EFI, good by carbs! Should be ready by end of April or so.

Folks, I've been talking with the track marshal about 4 points and I think I've won him over. Obviously when I hear something official I'll let folks know, but I'm pretty sure that we will be able to use them if we wish.

Will an instructor be required for all sessions for everyone like the LOG track day?
