Once again, really nice photos Tracy. I particularly like the tree of shame and the ones on the road with the line of cars.

Thanks for organizing this, it was fantastic.
It was great meeting you! Glad you made it home safely. We too ran into torrential rain and our back tires at that point were pretty much bald. Scary stuff. Sorry you had to bail out. Hopefull you can make the longer trip that ( I think) is possibly being planned. There's so much natural beauty and so many good roads in the area, its impossible to enjoy the GAP without spending a few more days at the very least.

No...that was last Tuesday. I was there when it happened. Simple case of trying to keep up and driving over his head.

Thing that really sucked as that the guy had just arrived from Maine two hours previous.

I don't know how you guys managed. We left LOG on Tuesday morning for the Dragon. Slept 12 hours once we turned in. The Dragon and Hellbender were great in the Seven. Lots of thumbs up by cars, bikes and members of the road crew surfacing the pull outs. I got caught in the rain. No top, doors, windshield wipers, speedometer or tach. Interesting! With a full view of the tires it is easy to place a wheel within an inch or two. A great set of Lotus roads.

That turn is an S and he entered too hot....didn't get the car whoa-ed down enough and then did a nice 4-wheel slide off the road. There's a nice drop off there, so the car must've bounced a little, and then his momentum carried him up the wall....and he came down on the nose, destroying the front suspension...but not the radiator, oddly enough (Tally from what I can remember seeing is some thing like 3 wheels gone, front suspension, front bumper, rear passenger wheel and suspension and whatever was directly behind the front bumper when it got crushed).

I can't say for 100% sure as I only saw him go into the corner in the rearview and then heard the impact as I was already around the corner you can see in the photo when he entered the S. Luckily for him, he was just fine. It could have been worse. Since the airbag didn't deploy, we all sort of figure initial contact was made with the rear passenger wheel. <shrugs>

Fortunately, I chose the week beginning Sept. 19.

I was thinking the same thing!

The whole time he was holding us up, I was saying "DO IT, DO IT, DO IT"!
