Air con opinion poll

Lotus fan, haven't stepped in yet and looking forward to order a basic Elise, intend to use it mostly in Northern Europe (Very tiny country tucked between France, Germany and Belgium) not extremely continental, but still more temperature variation than the birthplace of these niceties.
I'm wondering about whether I should take the optional air conditioning:
Plus:
- for the resale?
- for the demist?

Minus:
- price
- mass?
- long term hassle, if I keep the car long term (one more cause of trouble?)

Loved Luxembourg when we visited in October 2003.

All Elises & Exiges imported to the States are equipped with air con. It works in Los Angeles on hot days, as well as helps demist fogging on cooler days.

Around here, on humid rainy days, the only way to demist the windshield is to use the AC. I don't really use the AC to cool the interior of the car (I always leave the roof off), but I still want it in my car for when I do need it.

Get the AC. If for no other reason than the girls you pick up will appreciate it.

Thanks for the tips, I think I'll take it with AC. I have it in an old Porsche (911 1989, just for the engine sound, and the looks of the wheels and the engine...), doesn't work, and is very very heavy, but I guess they have improved the device vastly since.
