I have finally joined the ranks of the Elise owners. After a six month wait, mine arrived last weekend, and I picked it up last Monday. Of course, no sooner did I pick it up, than we had snow showers and unusually cold weather. Finally, the weather improved today, and I managed to get a few pictures.
I have been a fan of Loti since I first saw the Europa Matchbox car when I was about four years old. Growing up in Oklahoma, it was a major event to see a Lotus, and I was always very excited on the few occasions that I managed to get a glimpse of one. I have wanted an Elise since I read the Road & Track road test of an S1 back in 1997. When I heard that the S2 was coming to the States, I was determined to get one. Well, it is here now in all its glory, and I couldn't be happier. And looking at it still gives me the same sense of excitement I had when I was a kid...except now I get to drive it! Steve

Mobius, Ace, and getting Pribbled on ET!
Hey Mobius,
Saw your wild Elise on the transporter when they were pulling mine off a couple Saturday's ago. WILD! BTW, are you w/ Mobius VC? I get back to SF quite a bit (grew up there) and I would love to see it some time. Ace, I've got a measly 100 miles on my elise as we got more rain and snow starting 8 hours after it rolled off the truck than we've had all winter. To quote that Pribble character... Arrrrrgh! Of course, now that I'm sitting in a condo on Okaloosa Island Florida overlooking the Emerald waters of the Gulf Coast, 2,000 miles from my new baby, the weather in Colorado is conducive to rolling up the break-in miles. Hmmm, the Elise sure would have come in handy to cruise around here, plenty of spring break traffic to help me keep it under 4.5k RPM and in a sea of rental cars it would have STOOD OUT. James, Is there no respite from thine prying eyes?! However, your prying eyes fail you. Although the pic is a tad underexposed, that seat is clearly Ecru and not Travertine. Your travertine interior sits in my basement, along with the rest of my parts warehouse, as it has the past 4.5 years! You are correct, the constant stream of press vehicles has meant that I haven't needed a daily driver, much less a practical one for quite some time. So, this means that the UrS4 has been relegated purely to track duty these past few years. I got tired of smoking ~$1,000 worth of track tires every 2.5 days last season so I bought an Elise to keep from making my tire salesman fat, dumb, and happy. Believe it, or not, but the Volvo was fully detailed a week earlier. All it takes is a little of that nasty Mag Chloride to coat a vehicle. Nasty, nasty stuff. Anyway, now that the Elise has landed, it is time to prepare the S4 for sale. As harsh as it might sound, I really have no use for it anymore. Doh! I hope it didn't hear that.

After lusting after this car for longer than i care to admit and being taunted by the local elise crew on my commute on PCH for the past year, everything came together unexpectedly last month and i picked up my 05 NB from Joseph @ Newport European on 2/25. Since then i have put over 3k miles on it as it is my daily driver between Ventura and Santa Monica (120 miles round trip) all of it on PCH

Hey Frank Amoroso,
You write so beautifully and also incredibly descriptive!!!! It's clear why you do that for a living. You owe it to the Lotus community to write a few articles with Club 111 on your experiences with the Elise!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!............... ![]()

Finally Got an Elise
Been lurkin for awhile. Got my hands on an 05 Saffron Yellow last thursday. I love it. Allready broke in so I can get on the cams right away. I don't know how you boys lasted 1000 miles. Life on the cams is good.
It came with an extra exhaust. No markings but based on the phots on ET I figured it was the Quicksilver. I was worried about it since everybody seems to think it is really loud. I guess not everybody cuts there teeth on a 94' Dodge Viper RT10. 20 minutes in a stock one and your ears will ring. The Quicksilver is the same with the hardtop on. Haven't got a chance to try it with the top off. I love it though. When you are on the cams I am pretty sure everybody in the zip code hears it I am hoping for some sun this weekend so I can hook up with some of the other ET boys (and girls ) in Portland.I have tried to post a picture, but I have never posted to a forum before so it may not have worked. |

Hey Brant, the car looks sweet! I like the wheels! I hopefully will be picking up my Elise at Motocorsa next week sometime. By the looks of your house it looks like you live in NW Portland. We should go for a drive sometime. Tim

Sweet
HobanJ
That Exige looks so sweet. Wish I was a millionaire. I would love to get one of those too. Not in the budget right now. BTW tried to chase a 2003 Corvette w/stick yesterday. He was pulling on the little blue toy. Where's some tight twisties when you need them? ![]()

I have been a long time lurker on ET and would like to thank everyone for all of the good information that I have gathered here.
For some reason I am unable to start a new thread on ET but Randy is trying to help me out with that problem. I picked up my 2005 SY Elise, (a leftover), a couple of weeks ago from Park Ave Lotus in Maywood NJ. I’ve had a good experience with them so far. This was after being lied to by Maplecrest who held my deposit on a 2006 model long after they knew they would never deliver a car to me. I see no need to post pictures as everyone has seen a SY Elise. I just love the car and can’t wait for the 1000 mile service so I can play a little harder. Thanks again everyone.

Maplecrest
Recieved mine from Maplecrest last year, they dropped the badge because the cars were not moving like they were the first year and Lotus wanted them to take 30 cars. They will do only non-warranty work only. |

Maplecrest couldn't hang
That sucks about Maplecrest. I hate driving mine 50miles each way to get anything done to it. But there's guys that bought their's from dealers 500mi away and farther, so I should count my blessings. I did have a bad time at the dealer last weekend. They messed up the 4k forged 06 sport rims I just bought for my 05. I had a shake at 70mph to about 80 the wheels weren't balanced correctly. But while they had them off someone in clean up sprayed the rims with a acid or something? There's white drips of stuff and it dulled the finish alot also. Now they say their are going to get them fixed and not replace them. So we'll see how this works out. PISSED OFF.
