Don't buy one, you obviously have no idea whether or not you even like a Lotus enough from reading your excruciatingly retarded other threads.

well, i guess i need to clarify. i could afford the large unexpected expenses. but like my buddy said, i'd have to be extremely unlucky if all of a sudden after buying a Lotus i have $4,000 in dental bills AND the engine and/or transmission goes out on my '97 Hyundai Tiburon. and like he says, no matter who that happened to, everybody would be scrambling at that point. another poster said to sleep on it a few more nights. i've been doing that for a long time now, especially the last week. i think each day i convince myself more and more to pull the trigger. and i agree about a used one, but i would never buy a used one unless it still had time left on the original warranty. i might spend $10,000 more on a new one, but i'd pretty much get what i want that way. and according to my calculations, by next spring i could also afford to buy a new DD if my '97 Tiburon falls apart. might be something like a Nissan Versa, but at least it would get me to the office and back every day. The new one will cost closer to 20k more than a nice used one. A couple hints:
1. there are like 2-3 options for these cars you ar just as likely to find a used one as you like it as you are a new one. (You think the dealer has 20 colors). 2. Their aint no way you will cover the difference in warentee I Tell you what send me A check for 5k and I guarentee to cover all the items the dealer would on the factory warentee for 3/36. Do you buy warentees at best buy on your clock radios as well?

I'd not buy the Lotus Whitey#1.
First of all, you don't fit well into it. Secondly, you have doubts. Third, the Evora, a larger vehicle, will be available in 2010. Fourth, if you buy a 2008, a 2007, or a 2006, there will still be a part of the warranty left as the warranty lasts for 3 years. Lastly, just because Jesus would have driven a Lotus, doesn't mean you should. Your friend should buy a matching Lotus so you can both go to the college to drink champagne and pick up girls - he seems to be the driving force behind your quest for a car that you can't fit in.

Second, i have doubts about which shirt to put on in the morning. i have doubts about whether or not i want to spend $500 to have new cloth put on my $7,000 Brunswick Gold Crown IV pool table. Doubts are my middle name. Third, the Evora will be way more expensive. Fourth, doubt i could find exactly what i want. the other day a dealer got a 2006 exactly like i wanted, but the warranty has already expired. Finally, just bought a bottle of champagne tonight. its in the fridge, getting chilled. tonight when i watch my Mannix episode and have a cigar i can have some champagne too. Mike |

If you want the car and will enjoy the car for what it is, then you will get one and enjoy it.
If not, you might get the car hate it and sell it in a couple of months OR you will love it and keep it. There is only one way to find out....

Not really Whitey#1. Tiny droplets of insatiable champagne glistening on college girls bellies for you to lick off

I went from a 350z (Wtx350z on both forums) to an Elise, and I haven't looked back. the elise is everything the Z wasn't....BUT I've been called strange more than once.
However 700/month for a car is insane....I wouldn't pay that...but I've also been called cheap a time or two. Buy used. Warranty's are only good if your car breaks...so don't break it. ![]() I had absolutely no issues buying used for a few reasons, but a primary was the fact that the nearest Lotus Dealer is 5.5hrs away...so even if it was under warranty, I'd have to fix whatever broke. Thus far nothing has broken....knock on wood.

$700 a month is a nice chunk. i was reading on the Corvette forums about some people paying $1000 or more a month for a Corvette. in my mind, the Lotus is a step up from a Corvette. and being 5 hours from the closest dealer really worries me. thats one of the things i just cant seem to get out of my head.
