KBB/why loan officers are retardid?

so after missing out on buying a elise today because of a few factors.... the major one is being that my loan person has no idea who makes lotus and they dont list the good old KBB value on their site. even if she knew that lotus is the manufacture (funny thing is I said like lambroghini, she said "who makes that") in order to get a established vale they need to have it appraised, this is a good idea but again it adds to money spent on a car. Is their any sites like Kelly blue book that list average values per mileage and all that bs? I know going rate doesnt always mean kbb value but at least it will make me pre approved for a loan.

Is English your native language, and are you typing these messages on a proper keyboard?

You are asking for help to explain why you had trouble securing a loan on an Elise (which is something that most of us here have successfully done with little trouble) while criticizing the loan officer for being unfamiliar with a specialty vehicle manufacturer as if she is ignorant and we're all thinking that the fact that you can't spell or construct a proper sentence probably indicates a larger reason behind your being denied the loan.

BTW, it's "then" not "than" and it's "feel" not "fell."

You might also try other financial institutions. We always use Pentagon Federal Credit Union for car notes as they consistently have the lowest car rates out there. Their current rate is 3.99% for up to 60 months on used and up to 72 months on new. I just refinanced the Elise to drop my rate. You can become a member by joining MOAA, so you do not have to be military.

God help Seth when he acquires his car and then starts a topic on this board without exercising due diligence with the search function....

Seth, you will find all sorts of pedantic types on this board - 'search' Nazis, spelling and grammar Nazis, touring suspension Nazis, etc...

I'm one of the spelling and grammar Nazis, but it's rooted in a general hatred for anybody born after 1980 and their pervasive use of text message shorthand in all forms of correspondence.

Personal tip: ALWAYS double check your spelling of words such as 'retarded' before hitting the post button. Wouldn't want you to die of an overdose of irony.

No worries about people being a bunch of jackasses I've been on the MR2 forums for over 7 years now so I'm used to it. I remember listening to a NPR segment about how people feel it's their duty to correct others on grammar and what sort of people they tend to be.

yeah occasionally you do tend to get some useful information from people who actually know what they are talking about vs posting things from what they have heard. I have about the same amount of respect for those into cars but cant even change their oil.

Actually, we don't call people names here on this forum.

You will find that the people here on LotusTalk tend to be of a higher caliber that the average person on most car forums (although obviously not all by some of the digs that you have received). We don't attack, we don't flame, and if people do, then the moderators have to go clean things up, and that tends to tick us off.

You will find that the signal to noise ratio on LotusTalk is quite high, and there is more quality information here than you will find on most any other forum. If you ask a technical question, you will tend to get an informative answer back quickly.

Oh by the way, I use ieSpell to spell check my postings - it's free, and it caught the spelling errors I made in this post (although it doesn't correct my poor grammar ).

BTW, welcome aboard - hope it all gets sorted out with the loan officer. Companies like KBB are often as obtuse as loan officers and lotustalk.com members - the whole irrelevent/redundant step of selecting a bodystyle - ridiculous.

Aren't we touchy? Calling people names won't get you far. just a headsup. Just blow it off as nothing, and you'll be much better off. Well except Eric, b/c he even calls himself a bastard. and he hates me (born after 1980).

Anywho, skelliott what is MOAA? 3.99% sounds good to me.

It is the Military Officers of Association of America. You can find the link on Ped Fed's website.

Sorry, I should have said National Military Family Association (NMFA). MOAA is only for military officers. A link to NMFA is under the "How To Join" link on the website. It has been a while since I joined the CU and at the time NMFA was on the main screen, sorry for the confusion.

Yeah 3.99 is great. You can even refinance down to lower rates even if your current loan is with them, but you have to take out an additional $5000 to do it. Their customer service group taught me the trick of paying down $5000 and then refying with the higher amount. You get the reduced rate and your $5000 back! They are really a great, great credit union!!

I also use their visa card as they give you 5% back on gas, 2% on groceries and 1.25% back on everything else. They credit your next month's statement for your previous month's purchase credit.

I have no affilliation with them other than being a member, by the way. Just want to pass on good deals when I find them!
