Lotus wannabe newbe

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to this board and not yet a Lotus owner. I am looking to buy an Exige s or Exige 255 cup for a dedicated track car. I have been trying to educate myself on the differences and modifications relevant to these cars and relevant to my intended use. Any information or words of wisdom or advise you can through my way would be greatly appreciated. For background I currently own and track a modified 911 cab and plan to keep it as my (fair weather) daily driver.

Welcome!

I would suggest looking at a 211-lot less weight, awesome performance and very easy on consumables.

I agree. If you want a Lotus as a 100% track car and are looking in the Exige Cup range, go straight for the 2-Eleven.

I have looked at the 211 but want a hard top instead of an open roadster. How much difference, with regards to performance, is there between a exige s with 220 hp and a exige 255 cup with 255hp

If I may make another suggestion. Buy a Motorsport Elise and stick a supercharged honda in it-good for 370 with cams/cc on stock components. 450 hp per ton vs approximately 250. Better handling, braking and acceleration (lower weight.) Also they are going up in value so don't wreck it! Cup cars are awesome and less hassle to acquire and set up and probably less expensive in the end. You have a nice problem all great cars!

Interesting idea. How much would it cost to drop in the Honda engine? Can it be dropped into an 06 exige?
