New guy from Austin, Texas

Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I recently got my first Lotus - a 2010 Quartz Silver Elise with the newly released Performance Package. I've only had it for two weeks, and it's not nearly broken in yet, but I've already fallen in love.

I also got to drive an Evora today. Wow. It's a phenomenal car, and an excellent addition to the lineup. Quite a different driving experience, and top shelf in its own right.

I promise to take more pics soon. It's rainy and funky in Austin these days.

Aaron

Congrats and welcome to the club! We've had the same crappy weather here in DFW. I'm having withdrawals.

Congrats! Do you have any pics of the interior? Looks like a cool color.

Nice Elise. Glad to see Lotus of Austin is putting the Evora on the front row and all of the crappy cars on the back row.

Thanks. I'm definitely going to start attending the Cars and Coffee Cruise In, so I hope to see you guys there. I also hope to attend more events.

D-onion, I'll snap some shots this weekend if the weather improves (and after I have my first wax love-fest). Lotus did a sweet job on the interior...it's charcoal alcantara all around (dash, console, doors, seats, door sills, etc).

Sadly, the Evora is on its way back to Georgia. It was just passing through.

Hey Aaron,

Welcome to the Lotus community. That is a great looking car. What does the Performance Package consist of? There are a number of active folks in Austin and down here in San Antonio. Also a great track to enjoy your car in San Marcos. Below is a like to the Texas Region forum, if you haven't found it yet. It is a good way to keep in touch with what is going on in these parts. A few weeks ago we had an all clubs go-kart challenge here in San Antonio, that was a lot of fun. The Nissan guys won the honors, but we could have a used a few more Lotus guys to help even the score.

Enjoy your car and keep in touch,

Cheers,

ff

I'll make it a priority to come down and visit. What's the name of the track in SA?

Once I hit 1500 miles, I'm going to explore the Elise's capabilities at the Driveway here in Austin. I'm pretty comfortable there, so I should be able to learn fairly quickly how to operate the car safely at speed. Or... so I at least not do anything completely ridiculous when I visit.

The Performance Package includes:
Touring package
Hard top
Traction control
Alcantara interior (choice of grey, red, or blue trim)
Sport seats
16-spoke wheels
Yoko A048s
Sport suspension
Twin oil coolers
Harness bar

That's a Great Package

Hey Aaron,

That is a great package. I wish I had the traction control on my car.

The track is called Harris Hill or HH2. It is in San Marcos, over by the airport. It is a great momentum track, ideally suited for our cars. You should go over and check it out. Scott is a great driver and really knows that track well. PM me and I will send you his contact info.

Our next event in San Antonio will likely be the Cars and Coffee on the 27th. If you are interested in coming down for it let me know and I will send you some more info or send your contact info to Luis, who organizes the event for the San Antonio clubs. It is a great place to meet other car enthusiasts. I'm sure you will enjoy your car.

D-onion -- Here are some interior shots and my newly debadged (Elise) rear...

The sun hid away again as I started taking pics... so alas still no real perspective on the Quartz Silver.

Welcome. You should come out to Harris Hill Road Course on March 27th. We are doing another HDPE. There are a few of us on this site (and another) that instruct at the HDPE's.

Heck - I think one of us that is instructing lives RIGHT BEHIND THE OP

(I noticed the new Elise when I was walking my dogs in the park the other day. Without giving away too much of the OPs personal info (I probably wouldn't want my physical address broadcast either) I think he (or she) lives in the SoCo area in a quite awesome contemporary remodel of an atomic ranch that I have always admired).

Anyway - welcome to the 'hood.

I live south, in 78704. I looked up NW -- looks nice!

Chotto: You bet... Hopefully, I would have racked up 1200 miles by then :-)

Well.. it's a cool house

I'm on the street right behind you in the nuclear fallout green bungalow (it looks cooler than it sounds - honest) that has been under renovation for what seems like two years now
