New Owner '07 Exige S, Indiana - LotusTalk

Adding to the small list of female owned Lotus...

I recently purchased an '07 Exige S. Taking it on its first inaugural run today with the local British Car Club down to southern Indiana! I have to compliment the previous forum member who owned this car (Justin, Topgun750). It was very well cared for. Still had the plastic over the steering wheel logo!

The car gets a lot of looks. Plus comments. Of course there are the ones like:

Can you drive it? (honestly, how do they think it got there??)
Is it yours? (said with an incredulous look on face while staring at blonde hair... well, better be the hair they're staring at)
Or of course the common but annoying... talk to any man nearby to ask questions - not the woman in the drivers seat.

LOL, they just wish they were driving it

Hi....congratulations....and welcome!! I used to get that....still do with the Porsche, 'Is that your boyfriend's car?'...'Is that your husband's car?'.

Congrats on the purchase!! I am T.J. the Lotus Mechanic at Fox Valley Motorcars in the Chicago suburbs. I service many of the cars in the Indy area and i recently became a member of C.H.I.L.L. (Club house for Indy Lotus Lovers) They are a fantastic club.

Thanks TJ. I will definitely be bringing the car by Fox at some point soon! Seem to be out that way for work fairly often, so might as well make a side trip.

Stacie, welcome to the forum. It is great to have another female Lotus driver in Indy. Especially a blonde (I am one too). The stupid comments never cease to amaze me!

We have a GREAT club here (CHILL). The website (although out dated and in need of much work) is www. IndyLotus.com We meet the first Thursday of every month for dinner in Carmel (I wish I had seen you post sooner, that was yesterday). We have drives or various get togethers almost every weekend in the summer. For the last 3 years we have had a killer Halloween party and the plans for this year are in the works now!

T.J. is by far the best Lotus mechanic out there. You can trust him to do any work necessary on your car. Your car looks great and it seems you already have some nice mods. Hope to meet you soon!

I dont know if I can work on a Laser Blue car and be able to give it back! I will one day own a Laser Blue Exige. All jokes aside I very much look forward to helping you (Pandora) with anything you need. Enjoy the car, and the Indy folks, watch out they are a bit strange...lol just kidding!! You are always guaranteed to have a good time with that group, I try to make it down there a couple times a year just to hang with them!

A couple quick ones come to mind:

(If he's in a car) "No. It's mine. What about yours? Is it your husband's?"

"No. I had to get rid of the husband. He kept asking stupid/unenlightened/sexist questions."

"Actually, yes, it is. Well... was. He's dead." (insert uncontrollable weeping)

finally, if it's a fratboy-like guy,

"No. It's my girlfriend's."

Enjoy the car. Take heart in knowing we all get stupid questions about these cars, albeit different ones.

Welcome to the Lotus community.
Indy is a really good place to be a Lotus owner.
We have a great local group that is very active with track days,auto x and drives.
We are planning a drive from Indy to the Dragon on Oct 20th if you would like to join us.

That's pretty good too. It's kind of like the urban legend(?) of the woman who drives the Porsche with the vanity plate "WAS HIS".
