New Owner: 2008 Elise Cali Edition Red
Hi folks,
So about 12 years ago, I bought my first "nice" car (all were beaters before that). It was an '98 Accord V6 EX Coupe. Great car, but big, comfortable, and worst of all, automatic. I owned it for about one year, then couldn't take it anymore... loved sports cars too much, and traded it in for a '99 Miata 10th Anniversary. Best car decision I had ever made at the time. A couple years later, mainly due to finances, I sold the Miata and only had a motorcycle as my driver (borrowing wife's car when needed... we lived south at the time). Finances quickly came back, and I bought a Dakar Yellow E36 M3. Great car! Drove it for about 6-7 years... loved it! Although I did occassionally yearn for another open-air roadster-type car. But then had a brain-fade, thought I wanted something with all the latest gizmos, and traded the M3 for a brand-new G37S (hey, at least it was a 6-speed). Again, like the Accord, it was a great car. But life came full circle. 12 years after I took the hit of trading in a one-year old nice Japanese coupe for a small roadster, I decided to be true to myself and took the hit by trading in my 18-month old G37S for a '08 Elise Cali! Part of the decision came from realizing we weren't going to get hardly anything for the '98 Volvo S70 T5 my wife was going to sell to get the minivan, so we decided to get the minivan for her and keep the S70 as my daily driver - allowing me to get something less practical than the G37S as my fun car. Just funny how life repeats itself. But wow, as fun as the '99 Miata 10th Ann (first Miata with a 6-speed and I also had it modded) was, the Elise is just an altogether different beast! Have only gotten to drive it sparingly the past 2 days since buying it, but in total love with it! As many others have said, it truly makes you feel like you're getting away with something driving a race car on public streets. And like the Miata (and unlike the G37S), it feels fun even when you're driving 20, 30mph! We have LOTS of roundabouts in our suburb... absolutely sick how fast the Elise can take them (when there's NO other cars around of course). ![]() Anyhow, I've had lots of great cars (Miata, M3, G37S), but I FINALLY have a car of my dreams. Thanks for the great forum - I plan on becoming a very active member! Mike ![]() ![]() |

Mike:
Congratulations and even though I am biased, the interior is GREAT! In fact, it is my understanding that the California Edition was used to demonstrate to Tesla that Lotus was capable of making specialized interiors for their cars. Special it is. Enjoy. Vincesf |

Welcome
Love the color and the interior is great. I hope to get a California version same day. I love Yellow and red is my second choice. But who's complaining. Be safe.

Great interior finish
Not hot on the interior color choice, but I'd like to see it in other colors.
