I've been trolling the boards for probably a year, reading, learning, and am finally close to getting an Elise. Went for a test drive in the fall and can't wait to get into one of my own this spring! I figured it was about time to officially join the community.

I think you mean "lurking". Lurking implies reading posts without replying.

"Trolling" in this context is often antisocial posting hoping for angry responses.

I know that's true, but I feel like "trolling the forums" used to mean the same thing. Dunno when it switched really.

To OP: welcome to the community! I lurked a bit before buying as well, it definitely helped. Good luck with the search and no question is too dumb. Unless it's about screens in headrests or making a lotus hellaflush. Or about whether you should get a lotus or a viper when all you care about is going fast in a straight line.

So maybe there are some dumb questions lol but based on this post, I'd say you're doing alright

Welcome aboard - it's so nice when people introduce themselves first vs. starting with "my ricer be daz shizz boyeeez!!!". Very refreshing.

Good luck with your search - what are you looking for specifically, daily driver (hopefully not) or track toy (now we're talking!)

Thanks for the warm welcome all! To answer a few of the questions:

-Looking for an 05 or 06 Elise. Under $30k, in either Electric blue, racing green, white, or dark (bordeux?) red. For the right price I'd be willing to rebuild one with a blown engine.

-It's for sunny days, weekends, and 2-3 trips to the track each year (as funds allow).

And don't worry, I don't want a Viper - going fast in a straight line is too easy...

$30k is a pretty decent budget. Should be able to get a lower mileage Elise. Probably won't be able to get an 06 for that unless it has north of 50k miles.
