BMW out of F1 in 2010
Long rumored, confirmed by BMW today:
autosport.com - F1 News: BMW will quit F1 at the end of 2009 That's a shame. A lot of $$ invested without achieving their ultimate goal Last edited by Vexige : 07-29-2009 at 05:45 AM. |

this pisses me off, just a few weeks ago they were gung ho about their new series, so what would the fota do now if they had went ahead with their own race series. i still expect to see at least another big team to disappear by the end of the year (just remember alonso is alledgely heading to ferrari and his teams other driver sucks
.........)

Maybe BMW-Sauber didn't want to have to deal with Ecclestone and the FIA anymore and, since FOTA wasn't starting its own series and a new Concorde Agreement was to be inked, which would have further obligated them to Ecclestone/FIA for some time, they just opted-out of all of it.
I kind of also wonder whether they maybe took exception to the fact that there are no longer any North American races, since that is, if not the largest, one of the largest markets BMW serves. At that rate, what's the point? I'd probably just concentrate on my ALMS (DTM, BTCC, etc.) efforts and save my money in the process, too. |
