DOTY Award

I went to the AZ region awards banquet this past weekend knowing I was going to recieve my trophy for winning the 2008-2009 Spec 944 AZ regional championship.

They got to near the end of the banquet, and started giving out the awards for most improved driver, rookie of the year, and driver of the year(DOTY).

I was sitting there in shock when I heard them announce my name for "AZ regional driver of the year".
I didnt expect that at all, it was kept a complete secret from me, so it was a total surprise.
It was quite on honor to be chosen out of some very good drivers in our region; the trophy is the nicest, and the one I am most proud of that I have earned yet.

I wanted to share the good news.

The racing gods have been good to "the fishguy" this past year.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I appreciate it.

I wasnt going to post this on LT, and had decided to just PM a few of my friends here on the site about this. One of them replied and encouraged me to post this, so I decided to go ahead and do so.

Hal, I appreciate your comment very much, and this was really the reason I decided to go ahead and start this thread. You would not believe the amount of grief that I get (from some) for merely trying to help people with going to the track fully prepared with a safe car; the "4 point harness debate", HANS device, using real race seats, etc...........

I try to help people think about approaching the track, regaurding safety gear available and choosing to have, or not have, with respect for the speeds we are doing; you know, it never really feels that fast until you loose control of the car.
when it comes to safety gear on track;
"its better to have and not need, than to need and not have"

I know there are many here on this site who very much know their stuff, and dont like hearing my observations/input, and truthfully, my comments are not directed towards them, they are really being directed towards the people who are just discovering the world of tracking a car, or those who take safety gear as an unnessecary expense or hassle.

I decided that starting this thread might add a bit of credability to my points of view. This is the internet afterall, and a person can be anything they decide to present themself to be from behind a keyboard to a group of strangers.
If my posting and presence here on LT has made even one person decide to use a H+N restraint, or rethink the harnesses and/or seats in their car, then its worth the time to me.

Here is your picture xtn.
Josh

Killer trophy. And, speaking of safety, it almost looks like the trophy wheel has an airbag!
