NYC would be cool but I would rather them do the even out in Vegas. Much rather spend a week vacation in Vegas then NYC........

NY would be monumental but a logistical nightmare - Vegas would be a lot of fun and easier to pull off!

Totally agree - seems Vegas would make much more sense. And yeah, F1 in Vegas, I'd be there in a heartbeat. NYC?... not so sure.

Vegas would be fine as long as they use the streets and not a parking lot!

They have had one there in the past. Just not sure if anybody here is old enough to remember.

I'd love to see an F1 race in NYC, but I'm afraid there isn't one stretch of pavement smooth enough for even a pit lane...

+100

I'm picturing F1 cars crashing over steaming manholes in manhattan and wiping out the hotdog carts.

Suspension will need to be rebuilt after each lap, so there will be a lot of pit-stop strategies if they run in NYC.

Not to mention "crashing" over the non-FIA "curbing"!

since all the f1 cars performance are close this year they could leave the yellow cabs as moving obstacles like the minardis back in the day. bet you one cab would place

where in/around nyc could they run it or would it be somewhere like meadowlands in jersey

Actually there were some interesting "courses" in the old "Project Gotham Racing", especially around and through Central Park (especially the traverses). I'd love to see F1 cars streaming through Columbus Circle (reminiscent of Casino Square in Monaco).

Not really, in 1969 Jochen Rindt won in a Lotus 47B average speed of 126.36 mph. The last USGP in 1980 at the Glenn was won By Allen Jones in a williams Fw07 at 126.37 mph. By comparison the 2007 USGP held at Indy was won by Lewis Hamilton at 125.15 Mph. The Can Am cars like the porsche 917/30 raced thru 1973 at the Glenn were even faster. The biggest problem with Watkins Glenn is its remoteness and lack facilities to support the modern GP " Show"
