Yippie!!! Looks like F1 is coming back....
Looks like F1 is back on the calender in 2010 for Montreal next year. I'll be there to route on Hamilton and Team Lotus/whatever..... I'm so excited now that I know how everything works and all the do's and don'ts of F1 weekend in Montreal after a few races before.
![]() Mabye this year I'll take my kayak up and surf lachine rapids and habitat 69. Although, that means I can't drive the Lotus up .

Edit: and share the Do's and Don'ts. I haven't been to Montreal yet.

well, 1st do. Usually montreal tickets go on sale around Dec. 15th. I also suggest you start locking down a hotel by then. If you wanna save money and stay outside of montreal, look for hotels in Brossard or St. Lambert.
I'll put alot of tips up for Montreal later on when I get a chance. Guess if it's gonna happen, I gotta start thinking what seats I want. Last race I was on stands 11 all to the right on the front row to see the start, pit exit, and all of turn 1 and 2.

Well, looks like Montreal plans on having the race. The hotels have already done their usual double the price mark up for the cost of the rooms during that weekend.

Ok, big tip 1.... Getting to and from the track.
There are a few ways to get to the island and track. 1. Many recomend taking the metro to this island (see the "M" logo by the Montreal Biosphere on the 1st island). You get off and load at that metro station, but then half to walk across the 2nd bridge to the track. This works great on Thrus, Friday, and Saturday as the crowds aren't too bad. Everyone going to the track goes at differnt times, so it's not too bad. Leaving the track on those days isn't too bad b/c people also leave at all differnt times. On race Sunday, you can still easily take the metro there, but forget about it when leaving on Sunday. Imagine everyone at the track leaving at the same time tyring to get onto a train. I recomend this method except for leaving the track on Sunday after the race. The metro system is very safe and extremly easy to use. Just buy a 3 day or weekend pass, it's worth it. The only other thing is depending on where you're sitting on the track. If you're near the hair pin turn, this will put you in that area. If you're near turn 1, it's a long walk around the track. 2. I recomend this on sunday, but you can do it any other day too. You can park your car for free on the streets by the label "C" by the train tracks. Free parking!!! Then you walk about 800 yards to lable "B". There a taxi awaits (you pay a little fee) and drives you buy habitat 69 to label "A" across the bridge. Here they drop you off and you walk across the 2nd bridge to the track. Same for coming back, but you'll have to get on line and wait for a taxi to get you back to point "B" as there will be a line of people. If you're a strong walker, you can also walk the route from "A" to your car at "C". Be aware though, on Sunday going to the race this works well, but after the race on Sunday, the taxis arent' there. They force everyone to walk from "A" to "C". I felt sorry for the older and handicapped people who thought they were gonna get a cab ride back. They only do that on Sunday after the race. Guess they figure there is too many people coming out at once. 3. Never tried it and don't have the guts to, but you can say you're going to the Casino and drive to across the bridge past label "A" and park your car at the Casino. I guess if you spend an hour there gambeling before you walk out the casino to the track, no one will say anything. I woudn't go driving in with F1 gear on cameras hanging from my neck. Poeple mentioned doing it, but I don't have the guts to try. I like method 2. That's what I'll be doing. But to bypass the cabs (especially since there isn't one on Sunday afternoon) i brought a pair of rollerblades and skated back to my car from A to C. Then you hop in you're car and you are right near the highway to get out of there and head back to the USA beating all the crazy downtown montreal traffic. Although like last time, I'm gonna get a hotel in Old Montreal near the ports and just skate to point "A". I did it once and it wasn't too bad of a hike. That way, I was also able to park my Lotus in an under ground, well gated, and secured garage not to far from point "B" on the map and go to the track that way. Hope all of this made sense. Sorry from the long ramble.
