2009 Autocross Dates
Marina airport has open their calendar for '09. The GGLC has booked the following days for the 2009 autocross season:
March 29 April 26 May 16 June 27 July 18 Aug. 30 Sept. 19 Oct. 17 March will be a practice date, April our formal clinic. The rest points events. We'll be scoring at least the best 4 of 6 events. A bit of a side note. Am working out the details with LeMans Karting about the winter race series. Am expecting it to start up in the second half of Jan. and run through Feb. or very early March. It'll be 3 events. |

Learn my lesson, several seasons ago. Put my requested days in, the afternoon that they open things up. Got one day I wanted and had to scramble to fit into what was left. Last year put them in, the moment it open up (at midnight). Got them all. This year was almost a hour later... a couple of clubs got in ahead of us but pretty much got what I was after.
All the support we've been getting the last few years (and a little added experience on my and everyone else's ), made it a easy call to add more dates. |

How is the equipment holding up? Did the finish box need fixing since that vette ran over it? Has purchasing more wires or a backup start/finish box been considered? Seems like those are the things always having trouble
![]() Let me know if you need any help or items I could get before the season starts

Actually think that was the 2nd time the same box got ran over (first time was several years ago). It's got a very tough metal casing. It's OK. Cables- we did buy new ones and they held up ok for a few events (adding the connectors). The real weak point is those little 28 awg wires and RJ connectors they use. For this season, will fab up a shorter adapter cable with tougher connector- and some spares, going to the boxes. Have looked into going wireless, that is some major $$$- we'd also have to upgrade the main timer box to go with it.
This season "profits" will primary go towards paying for the box van and it's updates. Might go wireless for the next. There is a software package, that isn't too bad, in cost. Will take a closer looking at picking that up... maybe we can get up to speed on it during our practice event. Also need to order a few cones- retire those that have taken a real beating, we can also use some extra for the more complex courses. |

Some of those cones are pretty tattered. With 7-8 events for the season, think we could afford to do that to the top person of the day. Maybe as a added bonus, we can require them to tape it to the roof of there car for the rest of the event.
