Start out by thanking the instructor for this weekends clinic:

Derek- from BMC Lotus
Alan J
Alan G
Charlie

From LotusTalk

Mike Woods (my old instructor)
Michael Sands
Reto (ConeFusion)
Jason (Enigma)
John Stimson

As well as those that filled in for the practice group-

Rob (Dietsch Werks)- who also made sure our box van is road worthy and fully operational .
Alex (Apkom)- who also is the autox co-chair.

TinTin for taking care of the timers and logging all that data. Hopefully the laptop (thank rnr) and a little later the software package will make the post autox work a lot easier.

Also thanks to Silicon Valley Autogroup who had been sponsoring us for many years. They were the source of the prizes we gave away. Went with raw time- so a club member running, slicks, gutted interior, suspension and HP mods (EVO) along with some talent took the top spot, Danny. rnr, TinTin (sorry off hand don't recall the other winner) Nick?

For the instuctors we leveled the field- going to a PAX and tire index and Enigma pulled off the top spot.

Have gone ahead and open it up for May 31st. Members only can sign up for the first week. It's our usual format, 4 run groups, points event.

http://www.motorsportreg.com/calenda...8B498C57754B56

I'll send out a mass email to everyone who has run with us in the past, tonight. So would expect it to sell out in the next 1-2 weeks.

Open up the May 31st date, to non-members yesterday. About 12 spots still open.

Does the # of total drivers ever change? Like for the clinic - only 3 run groups vs normally 4 groups (less cars per group)?

The clinic / practice was limited to ~48 drivers. For our regular events about 60 (through there is enough demand to allow closer 80). Four runs groups (around 15 each). We run a little later, 4:30-5 PM. Depending on course length and equipment problems, last year that came out to 10-14 runs for the day. So more seat time and down time to catch a ride or study the lines taken by the quick drivers. Along with quick change over.

Awesome way to kick-off the points season for the GGLC AutoX Series!

Fun and challenging course, lots of runs!

Many thanks to Larry, Colm, Jason (course design & set-up) and all the others that made this yet another enjoyable GGLC AutoX!

Next event is June 28th.

Cheers,
Kiyoshi

Thanks everyone for the great autocross. When everything came together I somehow managed to get a 41.2, otherwise was running 42's in the afternoon. Lots of fun! Will see everyone in a month

That was a fun day. Thing went so smoothly we ended up with 15-18 runs for the day. Have attached a few photos and have a good 500 more at:

GGLC Autox 053108 - a set on Flickr

Kevin- for only your second autox, your gaining speed quickly… I no am not saying that because you beat my best time of the day.

No problem. I guess you must have missed the memo saying that you're supposed to drive slower than the car owner.

This was a very good event. Thanks to the organizers and volunteers. I thought that the course was particularly interesting. Slow turns that required discipline. Fast sections that rewarded aggression. A couple of turns that could be driven much faster than I expected. One or two places where you got severly punished for driving the wrong line.

Thanks Larry - I think I can be more smooth though, as Michael Sands taught me to be at the clinic.

More of you guys should sign up for the autox on 6/28.... I was suprised how few lotus there were there compared to the clinic the prior month!!

Oops sorry about that. Let those that had sign up for May, know that I open registration for June a little over a week ago. The norm will be that it's open about a month before the event. About 25 spots still left. Head over to motorsportreg.com- June 28.

Took a quick look, about a 1/3 are Elise/Exige owner at the moment. First couple of years we use to get some of the other models Lotus out... would be nice to see them show up more often. In general we run around 40%, Lotus. Hey Kevin, it only took you a few years to make it out and run... now you know what you were missing.

Raw results should be done in about a week. It may take close to a week more to get the points standing out (need to work out some of the fine details first).

Maybe we should setup a mailing list for reminders? We could also reuse the list use for the GGLC track day messages since that apears to be fairly low traffic.

Trying to put a handle with a car, which car were you driving?

I was in the borrowed yellow car covered in stickers. Looks like mine may finally be ready for the next event. Then I get to hop on the plane the next day and get the other new toy (e92).

We actually have a mailing list that is used for sending out event notifications (I think it's the one you've mentioned)...

GoldenGateLotusClubEvents : Golden Gate Lotus Club Events

We use it for all event announcements. The "trick" to it is that the event chairman/organizer needs to tell John, the GGLC Event Chairman, to post something!

Cheers,
Kiyoshi

Before the start of the season, sent a email to everyone that has run with us through motorsportreg, close to 400. Am a little leery of doing that every month, don’t want to “Spam” folks. That said, I’ll probably use it for every other event.

The club event reminder would be a good channel for members not too familiar with the AutoX. How big a list is that? Generally had only used it for meets /drives so far.

I was in a Red Elise. We talked in the afternoon about your blue car. New M3 -- sweet!

Well?

Post some pixs to help me feel better... no Lotus here... hardly a sports car.

Cheers,
Kiyoshi
