Thanks a lot for this great event: once again I had a lot of fun ! I even managed to progress throughout the day and improve to respectable times, after correcting some of my mistakes by riding in better driver's cars: awesome !
Can't wait for the next one !

It was the 42.1 on the first video in your car.

Here is my 41.009s video:

Lack of LSD is hurting me for sure. Also, after riding with Jason I realize that I need a bit more toe-out in the front as I am running none.
Any comments are welcome, of course

Odd, since I am running zero toe in the front also.

I assumed that the immediate turn-in was due to toe-out. It could be the sidewall stiffness of Hoosers.

It drives the same on the Toyos. Its probably more to do with my shock settings than anything else. It took a long time to find the right combo of settings to get the car to behave. I also have more front roll stiffness relative to the rear than most cars. I don't know of anyone else running the same bar and spring combo I am. (its the origional blackwatch, super stiff bar)

I see. I am running the Lotus Sport FSB and I have it on the middle hole which, I think, is equivalent to stock. I was thinking of going stiffer so I can keep the inside rear tire on the ground a bit more... I may try that next time. Although, then I will have to readjust the shocks...

We've open it up for the Sept. 6th date. The usual drill, club members only for the first week. Will send out a mass email to everyone on the motorpsortreg site in the next few days:

When we had no LSD, we were all the way stiff on the FSB (Blackwatch - the stiff version?). With LSD we've backed the sway bar all the way soft, which is still fairly stiff, but the front tires are staying on the ground now. We're also running 1/8" toe out in the front for turn in.

Nick, I couldn't hear much wheel spin on the video of your run. Can you tell the inner wheel is spinning?

Thanks every one for making this another great event. It really helps to have session chiefs.
Special thanks goes to Rahul for driving club track to event so I could stay in bed a little longer

I have just finished calculating indexed results and point standings. Registered participants of the event can see it here
Please let me know of any errors or omissions.

One of Jason's runs as seen from start line is here

Thanks to all of you great guys/gals at GGLC for making this non-Lotus guy feel welcome. I had a blast

For the heavy Mustang, 11 runs ended up being about 5 too many...my tires were very greasy by the third run in the afternoon...even though I knew where to find more time, the car wasn't having any of it (or, maybe I was just overdriving the grip?)...made me jealous of all those lithe and lively Elises dancing around the pylons with minimal tire stress

I adopted and got on gas later than I could have. But there was still inside wheel spin at several places.

Here is a run where it is more evident... Not the greatest of laps

Looking at the video, it seemed like you got wheel spin on the first sharp right hander, then after that you got on the gas later to compensate (don't you just hate waiting to get on the gas! ) You are still getting less wheel spin than we did when we ran without LSD, maybe because your car is closer to the ground and the Ohlins may be keeping your tires connected better.

Very cool shots, Larry. Thanks!

I'm surprised that the Mustangs (Mary's and my Mustang Shelby GTs) corner as flat as they do on their stock suspension/springs. I was really looking for roll and camber change evidence, as we are really cooking tire edges, but it is clear through study of the great pics you've taken that the culprit is just the big 295 section Hoosier moving laterally under the stock 8.5" rim. In a perfect world, I'd love to slap a set of 10" rims on the car, but given the constraints of stock class Solo II, it just isn't meant to be.

We will now return you to your normally scheduled, Lotus oriented programming

Larry & Alexander,

Save a couple spots at the next event for a "Wicked" Europa... I'm trying to convince the driver and son to come out (ex-nat'ls champ).

Cheers,
Kiyoshi

Mike, glad you could put the pics to good use... hey with all the Evo's that run with us, our events aren't only about the Elise / Exige's. Think it's time to update your avatar.

Kiyoshi- it would be nice to have some of the other Lotus models run with us. Might be able to hold a spot open.

We're sold out with a few already on the waitlist. A reminder that club members do go to the head of the line and odds are good, with drop out 3-4 spots will open up.
