We had rain for two events last year- rather heavy at times. As well as the WCLM autox early this month. Wouldn't expect anything close to that. Would suggest a good rain coat, umbrella and water proof type shoes. 048 with decent thread do fine in the wet, only real problem would be with standing water.

Autocrossing in the wet is a good experience for wet weather handling. With the lower grip levels, you can play around a lot more with throttle steering.

I haven't run the Porsche at a wet event yet...AWD yeah!

I've got a canopy I'll try to bring along.

How about A048 grip on the course in rainy condition?
And I believe rain jacket is must for the people do work for
the course.

Driving at a wet autocross is actually quite fun since you can actually powerslide the car for a change. On the other hand working in the wet is quite annoying.

This video is my run at the very wet WCLM autocross earlier this month.

I've never driven my car in rain but look forward to autocrossing in it, should be fun. The Evo's should do well.

I plan to leave a little earlier than normal and drive at lower speeds to get there on my R888s.

I don't have an extra canopy sorry Kiyoshi, but I'm going to bring a tarp to put over soft top and engine when not driving. My soft top leaks some when I wash it so I assume it will when it rains.

You shouldn't have any problems driving down with the A048s as long as you stay away from big puddles of standing water. On the course you'll be fine, but you won't have much of an advantage over cars with the AD07s.

After the first 3 "official" timed runs, the rest of the day should be a lot of fun. A wet course is great for experimenting.

So can I run AD07s and score R-Comp points? After all I will be on the inferior tire

Tips for a wet/rainy event:

Wear synthetic fabric or wool, not cotton.
Bring a rain coat and pants.
Wear waterproof shoes, or water shoes (I have a pair of neoprene diving shoes that I use).
Bring garbage bags to store your equipment in.
A waterproof hat is nice.
Keep a towel inside your car to wipe down the seats, dashboard, windshield in case rain gets in while you have the door or window open.

Enjoy yourself! Driving in the rain is fun.

I would imagine that you should be allowed to score points in "Race tire" class if you drive on street tires, if that's the class you regularly run in. If it isn't, the people who showed up with race tires might think you're doing it just to pick on them.

I think this should be fine considering the circumstances.
It would be unsafe for people to drive on race tires to the site in such weather if they have an alternative.

I have AD07's on the car right now and don't plan on changing them.
Of course I don't care about points having missed 2 events.

Remember, since we run indexed times (and use tire index) street tires will result in even better indexed time.

Don't a little rain scare you... 048s work surprisingly well!

Here's a couple pixs of the WCLM AutoX in the morning session... Note the "RIVER" Rob is driving through!

Cheers,
Kiyoshi

FYI, this is what a sea of cones looks like:

AutoX in the rain?

Lets hope Jason has designed a course where we can practice our drifting styles

Was that at San Diego? I thought it never rained in southern California.

Looked at the latest forecast. Rain showers in the morning, steady rain in the afternoon. Expect about a .25" We might even get thunder. The course does have 3- 180 degree style turns, they are open enough that you could try drifting through them.

I have an even more interesting situation for you. I just found out that my right rear wheel with the AD07 is bent and completely unusable. It looks like I'm going to have to run AD07 fronts and RA1 rears. Have fun indexing that

BTW can someone post a link to the standings? I cant seem to find it.

FAVOR to ask all:

Does anybody have a karting neck collar that I could use tomorrow? I pulled a small muscle in my neck and I although I am fine to walk around, I am afraid that w/ a helmet my head may thrash around and aggravate the condition.
