Did I read that someone ran a carfax on this and it came up clean?

If that is the case, doesnt this make Carfaxs worthless?

Apparently so.

I'm not sure what the insurance company's liability is/was on this car in regards to Car Fax. It technically wasn't in a "crash", if you don't consider dropping it off a lift a "crash".

The insurance company (not mine), settled with me and totaled the car (at least financially). Not to long after the "incident", I was told someone at the body shop at Dimmitt bought it. From the Car Fax (i was PMed a copy this evening)... it hung around Florida for a little while, and now is apparently in New York for sale.

The VIN number matches my car. And all my mods are on it (except for the painted engine covers, brake calipers and wheels, and different shift knob). Same stereo, ITG Intake, oil filler cap, etc.

Wow. This car is still around Still remember this like it was yesterday...

These days, I feel obligated to check in once a while just to make sure no one is trying anything funny on ET with my old car.

Bit harsh. The car was damaged certainly - but it was not destroyed (a testament to the strength of the chassis!).

Was the car actually written off though - or did the insurance company and Goodyear simply buy it to quickly resolve the issue? Perhaps it was never technically written off

Front clam was damaged, rear clam, diffuser, bottom of tub dented severely, drivers rocker, exhaust. All repairable I assume. I was concerned about the engine getting something mechanically jostled or nicked. Apparently it runs fine.

Rear clam was misaligned as well.

Even if it was totalled or written off, if often doesn't show up on Carfax. Ours didn't, but we knew what we were getting into.

Look at the title - is it salvage? Is it rebuilt?

Does it have a title history that went through Kentucky? (this is the only state where you can launder a "Parts only / Certificate of Destruction / For export only" title from FL to simply salvage rebuilt....OK to then register in any state!
