Elise just got hit and they drove off. Can anyone run plate WWW761 (KS)

The Elise just got scraped by an SUV. Yes, I just got it back a few weeks ago after the last repair.

A couple of folks actually yelled at the lady, she rolled down her window, they told her what she did and she drove off anyway.

Not a big scrape, but I'm pissed she drove off.

Would like to offer her the chance to take car of it as the KC, MO police won't have any problem putting out a warrant for a KS SUV driver.

WWW761 KS plate. Should be an 04 or 05 Durango.

Thanks. I'm going to go and change the oil to cool down.

Go report it. Chances are she'll do it again and it'll be worse next time...

Go report it before she has whatever damage or paint transfer on her car fixed.

My neighbor tried to do that to me after hitting my car while parallel parking behind it. He went and had my paint removed from his fender. Luckily another neighbor witnessed it and left a note.

report is now, dont wait or give her a chance. She had her chance when she actually hit your car to stop and make it right.

Now its time to report her and get her locked up, hit and run is a felony i believe.

I would also be unsure of the legality of someone looking that plate up for you...

Report it to police and your insurance. A few years ago someone backed into my Elise and took off, a witness chased them down and got their plate number and description and left it on my windshield. I gave the info to insurance and within two weeks the owner of the car called and offered to send me a check.

There are some sites that you can pay a small fee and do a reverse search...I would go that way if I were looking for someone...

Actually, the police probably will give you that info without filing charges. (at least in LA) I think they are all too happy for people settling matters without tying up the court system and/or taking up their donut time.

Same thing happaned to me in Buffalo..(Williamsville Suburb) NY. Called the police and they sent a car to the persons house. She called me and said she would take care of it and to stop by later.

When I stopped by later, she would not even come to the door and out comes her husband. Got rather short with me...saying to call his insurance, that him and is wife were anesthesolgists....cant be bothered...etc.

So I repored it to insurance.

About 2 months later I had to go in for a semi serious operation.....and guess who was my anesthesolgist....yes it was her...

Edit...forgot to say that the officers also said they prefer it to be handled privately....that is why they let me know who the person was.

Don't waste any time. Paint transfer and/or matching scrape marks may be your only hope of proving anything. Did you get the names and numbers of witnesses?

Reminds me of a semi-funny story. It happened the day of my dad's funeral...

My nephew's fiance parked her car in the street next to my parents house. When she went out to the car, the headlight and turn lights were smashed and the front fender was damaged. It was fairly obvious that the kid across the street backed his riced-up Honda into her car. She called the police.

After the police arrived, they started questioning the kid. He denied having anything to do with it. My future niece's father was also there. He and the cop were both 6'6" tall and built like professional wrestlers. The kid's mom came out. The mom was probably only 5' tall and weighed under 100 lbs. The cop questioned the mom. She tried to deny that her kid had anything to do with it.

After about 1/2 hour of "discussion" between the parties involved, the mom gave in and said that she was driving the car -- an attempt to protect her child. The cop asked her to back the Honda out of their driveway so they could line up damage that was on both vehicles. First, she had trouble starting the car. Then she had a lot of trouble getting it into gear -- the kid got excited and started yelling at his mom that she was going to destroy his transmission. Finally, the kid backed the car up to my niece's car so that damage could be compared. The dents and the paint transfers matched perfectly. The police took photos of both cars for their records. The woman then gave in to the overwhelming evidence that she and her kid couldn't lie their way out of responsibility for the damage.

I hope you got names and phone numbers of witnesses. Some people will go a long way in denying fault. Even with a license plate number, you may be out of luck.

I hope you get a satisfactory resolution to this incident. -- good luck

Been there, done that.

Report it now and you'll still have the option of pressing charges or not depending on how she responds.

That's a really bad idea. Most state laws require an immediate report, and it was a hit and run. If you haven't gotten it yet from everyone else, REPORT IT NOW!!!!

What in the hell is wrong with America today?
Guy has an expensive sports car hit, perp runs away........guy doesn't contact the police.

Different guy walks into a convenient store..........gets fed up with the LAZY non chalant employee who has never made more than minimum wage in her entire life. Employee continually ignoring him and yapping on her cell phone, so customer displays his displeasure. Cops show up on the scene, witnesses pop out of the woodwork all with different stories.........customer goes to jail for disturbing the peace.

My wife's granny backed down the drive and into the rear quarter qanel of the mighty Escort. She never knew it drove away waving goodbye. I just ate the damage - you can't have granny arrested! It's been over 20 years and I still chuckle over it......"Goodbye Alan!"

In this case I would have followed her while phoning the police.

I called it in and they told me to drop by a police station and make a report some time. I also got the names/numbers of the witnesses.

I just want to give this lady the option of paying for this immediately rather than having to wait for the court process.

You should still have that option - in fact, in my case, the cops stressed that they wanted to make contact with the lady before filing charges on her and urged me to be cool about it until they'd tracked her down. That took all of a day as she'd done it in her own apartment parking lot and I'd seen which door she came out of.

The cop called me back with her DL and insurance information and her insurance company fixed my truck with no issues.

The courts won't be involved for a long time, even if you press charges, but your only recourse at the moment is to file a report.

Filing a report will protect you and does not equate to pursuing any charges.
