The link opened over 50 windows, crashed my system and req'd a hard reboot. Still have to run our virus software, but it was mentioned there is a trojan attached.
May want to check your system?

Sorry Randy... I didn't post the other links to the other sites.

I'm just doin' my part to bring some free exposure to Elise Talk!

I'm not listening to the morons comments on the other sites. They don't know the details and they don't know my situation, so f-em!

Spoke to Goodyear today... next step is the Lotus dealers estimates. If it's more than $15K in damage (which I believe it is) then I get to talk to their legal department (or rather, mr my attorney will!)

No worries Qball. We have bandwidth, it just took a little to adjust to the sudden change.

There is a lot of ignorance out there. People that make a lot of assumptions also.

No joke. A lot of people on jalopnik saying that it could be Lotus' fault, and not necessarily lift-operator error. They didn't even remove the underpanels to expose the jack points... it's very obviously operator error. And I'm not even gonna start on the fark comments - there are some truly classless lowbrow morons there. It's kinda funny that this may become the first Internet "PWN3D" Elise, though. If you don't get it replaced, you HAVE to get that as your new vanity plate, qball!!!!

+1. Some of the comments on fark are beneath contempt. Ignorance and jealousy are ugly qualities. What do you expect from a site that requires a longer waiting period to post after joining than most states require to buy a handgun?

Hang in there, Q.

Seeing as the manager was there when the tech had the manual handed to him, I'd say it was the fault of the tech...

Unless that was sarcasm.

You took your pride and joy to a Goodyear shop to have new rubber put on by some dimwits who make $10 an hour knowing full well that your car requires unique care during maintenance and realizing that they might not be competent enough to do said maintenance to the point that you showed them specific requirements necessary which is akin to basically saying "look you don't know what you are doing, I do, but I am going to have you do it anyway"

Next time, take the wheels off and let them mount the tires and balance them and then give you the wheels back which is what I always did with my car which is my sweat and blood. I don't want some guy named Dwayne working on it. These guys deal with Ford Taurii and Minivans for God's sake of course they are going to screw it up!

I think I am going to go buy a Veyron and take it in to Jiffy Lube for a friction reline...

I have an active account there and have been correcting some of the moronic people such as "the Elise comes with a Ford engine, It only has 140hp, is a year wait etc etc etc etc. I think a few others are as well, or at least there are some Farkers that know their stuff with the car.

Not that we should really care but it is a very popular site, don't need any more mis informed people spreading crap facts around

Qball's FIL manages the shop; where would you expect him to take it. ALL THEY DO ALL DAY is lift cars and mount tires. It's their business and I can't imagine they've never mounted tires on a mid/rear engined car before. Showing them the jackpoints should have been enough. Sorry, but this is not rocket science here. I've never seen this happen to an Elise/Exige before and considering most dealerships don;t do mounting/balancing, the work is usually farmed out.

The name of the mechanic comment and the Veyron comparison are absurd beyond comment.

It's a fair enough point in general, but in this case he did say his father in law is a manager there who accompanied him when he dropped off the car, and they did brief the employees as to how to lift the car. That last bit turned out to be the problem as they didn't heed those instructions, which could ultimately legitimise your argument, but I honestly wouldn't blame the owner given the circumstances.

I dont blame the owner at all I am just saying that he took a significant risk by having a general "in and out" car service shop do the tire swap. With a car like that, I certainly would not have trusted the average joe who usually just changes oil filters or runs a balancing machine. Matter of fact, I don't trust shops in general with my vehicles, but I digress...

Plus, it was his father in laws shoppe. You can't ever trust your father in law ever! ahah just kiddin.

As for Serebo1, you seem touchy, new to the internet? The name Dwayne offends you when used in a satirical manner? geesh, tough crowd.

Hey... no skin off my back.

I'm ignoring the moronic comments on some of the sites... I know what I have and what they probably don't. There's a reason I have the cars, house, wealth, family, and job I do, and a reason they spend their lonely hours surfing Fark.com.

BTW... some of the certified mechanics make $50K+ a year. They are not $10 an hour grease monkeys.

This particular dealer, as stated, is run by my FIL. It's also one of the highest grossing shops in the state. They have many large accounts and take care of vehicles much higher priced than my lowly Lotus.

Many of the dealers, BMW, Porsche, etc. subcontract their work out to the major tire chains anyways. I know for a fact that my last BMW had tire work done outside of the dealership.

Also... no Lotus dealer within 2 hours of Orlando.

Hi world... I guess this is my 15 seconds of fame... woo hoo! Who woulda thunk!

Well, now that you put the Father-in-law thing that way, I'll offer out the peace pipe. No, not new to the internet, but as President of the F.O.P.N.D, I have to take issue with that (the name) comment. But we'll let it slide.

True and false. When I had my Elise, I took it to Sears to have them put on my new tires that I bought online. I gave the kid an extra $20 to lift it with a floor jack, flipped through the manual with him and got on the floor to point out the jack points, and showed him how many pounds to torque the bolts. The kid did an amazing job, and I still wound up saving a few hundred bucks. Not chump change where tires are concerned.

The only part I think qball was neglectful about was in leaving the car there and not watching the guy like a hawk. That's something you can do at a Lotus dealership, but not at a generic shop with untrained technicians.
