If you use a drive on lift, you can raise the car up in the air while it's on it's tires. You then have access to the under-tray (the part under the engine) for quick and easy removal. When that's off, you can now easily access the "C" jack points. A proper drive on (aka four post) lift will have a "sliding jack tray" - this is a cross "beam" that slides forward and backward on the ramps the tires sit on. Various versions have built in jacks that can then be positioned under the proper jack points and lift the car off the drive on ramps. The tire can then be removed easily. This is all similar to what you would do on the ground, but is much easier - if you have the room and the four post, drive on lift. With a four point lift, you have to figure out how to get the car in the air high enough to get under it to remove the under-tray. Then you have to lower the car back down, position the four point lift arms to the proper jack points and lift the car. The hard part is getting the car up to remove the under tray without it falling off the lift...

Anyone who bashes a Lotus owner is just jealous.

Just saw the pictures, just awfull. I bought new tires from dejavo0 on the forum and had to get them mounted. My co-workers son-in-law works for a place like this so he talked to him about my car. When I got there they were going to put it on the 4 point lift. I had to tell them that you need to manually jack it up from the "b". Glad I was watching every move or that could of been me.

I see that since this thread is posted into every single car forum, you guys are getting some real winners passing through.
Your cars are awesome. Theirs, however, are not.

Really no sense in even responding to the few new Fark trolls we picked up, if you read the threads on Fark you will see that there are quite a few of them. Nothing better to do than pop onto fan sites and say "you guys all suck !" They probably only created an account for the one time troll. Though we did seem to pick up 4 - 5 legit interested Elise people from the whole ordeal.
To the Farkers who have legit Lotus or Elise questions welcome ! To the Farker hate mongers still on here trolling : Ric Romero says : " Sometimes people with low self esteem will call successful people bad names" |

Hey everyone, let's ignore the trolls. No need to respond to them - that's what they are looking for. If they step too far out of line, they will be banned and their posts deleted (already done on many of them). But all you regular ETalkers, don't respond and encourage the trolls. We don't want to have to close this thread, as there is some reasonable discussion going on here. For all you new (non-troll) people that have posted here - Welcome! [/ModeratorHatOn] [NormalGuyHatOn] As for the people jumping on the bad wagon yelling to "sue 'em", wait a while. It just happened, and it will take a few days for things to get straightened out. I don't believe that it's been posted that the Goodyear shop is trying to get out of their responsibilities. I suspect that they will make it good in the end - the bad publicity of them not doing the right thing will cost them more in the long run. But it will take a few days for the corporate big wigs, the lawyers, and the insurance guys to figure out what they are going to do. If any claims are denied, then it's time to start screaming. But doing so prior to any decisions is premature. [/NormalGuyHatOn] - or at least as normal as I ever get...
