anywho, is it frustrating then that my hopped up lancer can OWN you on any track, auto x 1/4 strip???
Yeah, I lose sleep daily because of that. However, if I can present the track (an autox), I'd take that challenge.

Let me see if I can remember the saying---yes, here it is:

Drag racing is for fast cars, autoxing is for fast drivers.

I'm not saying the Evo is a bad car, so I don't know why you're starting a fight here. But the Evo was not born a race car, rather it was morphed into one. The Elise was born a street legal race car. Ask Road and Track or Motortrend.

so, what you're saying is, the EVO is better because it has to be heavily modifed to be faster than a stock Elise. Wow, I totally see the error of my ways and promise to cry myself to sleep tonight all the while thinking "what could have been"

To all other EVO owners, please note, I thinkt it's a great car, just not what I was in the market for.

No racing talk allowed. I'm now reporting you to get banned. Good luck trolling on the next forum you want to infect with your racer-boy BS.

PS - thanks for the support of my post in the other thread where I stated that Evos appeal mainly to idiot ricers.

Opinions are funny things, the Elise and Exige both look "riced" out as well. "Rice" defined by low splitters, wide openings, wings, etc... fiberglass!!!
Ummm... no wings or splitters on my Elise. Fiberglass... uhh... the entire body is made of it (except the tub)... it's not useless body panels like most kid ricers add... Regarding the splitters and wings... only on the Exige... and they come from the factory that way.

Regardless... I never said the EVO wasn't a decent sports car... they just never rocked my boat... can't get over the looks... but that's my opinion.

Now back to the regularly scheduled program... me and my stupid vertical Elise...

Still waiting to hear from the claims appraiser... ho hum!

Have you said what your next choice of machine is?

Sometimes I kind of wish something like that would happen to my cars. Something that makes them unsalvagable enough that insurance gets rid of it, but in a situation where I'm not damaged. I just like so many different cars that I want something new every couple years...but I don't want to lease because I can't keep my hands off the cars I own. And I'm too timid to try and sell my car every couple years.

Anyways this thread got hijacked beyond all belief, and I'm glad everything was taken care of in the end. I'm betting that store won't be having a Christmas bonus or profit sharing this year

Hope everything works out for you... the Lotus' are extremely nice cars. No one, no car deserves that.

The thread was linked to another site, I came here to see what was up. I wasn't defending the Evo guy, just the car. Sorry for participating in the OT.

Thanks for the well wishes... We welcome all car enthusiasts here on ET... except when it turns into a troll-fest... then we get on the offensive... but isn't that normal gearhead behavior...

Oh... once my settlement has concluded... I'll get back into another Lotus... just not sure if it'll be an Elise, Exige, or Exige S...

I think the Evo is an awesome car, I would buy one in a hearbeat. I think the only problem is with your first post as shown above; you don't appear to be a good person based on this comment.

Can you imagine a Lotus owner going on another car website and challenging them to a race or putting them down?

Never happen.

We have way too much class.

When we get together with other car clubs we have a blast.

Agreed. I have a love for all cars; I just prefer (and can afford) the Elise. If I went on the Evo or STi board, I would compliment their cars and try to ask intelligent questions (after doing a search of course) about their cars. Some people are just meanies; not sure why.

Back on topic..

qball - Have they given any indication to how they want to settle this? Are they at least providing you a rental?

Since it has been over 2 weeks I'm curious if they are taking care of you or leaving you hanging.

I hope all works out to your satisfaction.

Exige S qball, that wouldn't be a bad end result to the vertical elise. I am a track whore, so I'd go that direction if nothing else mattered.

05eliseNM, affordability... personally, so much more went into choosing my car from wanting a 4dr, lower valance design (tested in a sand trap at Summit Point), AWD and availability of parts and knowledgable local techs. I used to track a Mercedes. That was a big mistake.

Who, what, where, how??? Sorry, don't know what you are referring to in the above statement. Did I ask you why you bought your car? If so, I don't remember. You have an Evo? If so, great choice.

I believe my agent said the coverage is good only for the first 3 years. I do not know if it applies if you are a subsequent owner or not. I would check with an Allstate agent. I do not know if other insurances offer that type of coverage or not. My agent turned on to that. My guess if it's offered by one, it's offereed by many.
