I hate myself right now.....

How much do you guys think this driveway scrub will cost me?? 1 time 1 g*&#amm TIME I don't line up sideways enough out of my driveway and... Well it happens. I was on my way to work late, in a hurry blah blah blah. There is scrapage under the clam BTW, but NO evidence of broken paint.

I don't know... How much is a small jar of touchup paint?
Some of these and stone chips actually add character.

On a more serious note, ouch! You seem to have a chunk missing between the two white spots. Might need some fiberglass work to look 100% again.

Chunk IS missing, I kept it though, (I'm a woman, we keep these things {FOREVER}) Albeit it is a small chunk, may I emphasize NO cracking though!! Could a bodyman (Ascot Imported Motor Cars will do the work, BTW J.Moody is a GOD among Bodymen) possibly fill and paint it for around $500???

Around $350 ish for a body shop to repair.

There are clear covers available from Lotus that can be painted and put over the two protuding areas of the clam. I believe they are about $110 ish painted.

Uncle Sam, Thank You for the rough estimate, I was expecting around $500. For protection from my future self though $110 sounds good, are we talking Starshield though? Car has 4K on it and I think it's too late, Damage is done. Plus it has Starshield on the rear fenders, which is hammered BTW Thank You PENNDOT (F*^%$#= F^%@ers), road work has been bad this year around here.

These covers are a clear hard plastic about 3/8 of an inch thick, not Starshield. The come from Lotus parts and can be put on with silicone adhesive, like a bathroom sealant or windshield silicone sealant. You can paint the inside your body color and the outside remains clear and can be polished if you get any minor scrapes. I had purchased them already pre painted for my last Elise as the same thing happened to my car. I can't remember where I got them from, but they were almost unnoticeable. I think I paid about $110 for a painted set about two years ago. I guess a search of Lotustalk or a helpful member, dealer, vendor can give you more information. I'd look, but I am ready for some zzzz's. They are removable with the silicone or you could drill a small screw under the clam, but I wouldn't. Check the Lotus parts company that advertises on this site, I think it is Lotus Parts. This happens to about one half or more of the Elises I've seen. An easy fix as these things go.

Lotus Garage, maybe? A sponsor. Or ask your dealer.

Front clam Protection ideas

Search under "Front Clam Protection Kit". I have seen various versions offered for sale on this Forum. The "Viper" is selling some as far as I know at the moment for a very reasonable price. I have made my own from Lexan material that I purchased and form fitted myself. I got the supplies from Home Depot and used a Silicone sealant adhesive to attach them. Just do a search and there are many ideas to choose from. Good luck and I think we all will or have heard that sound of the scraping of the front clam on our Elises..... UGH I hated it. Kind od sickening....... Be safe.

1/2 or less than that, depending on if you choose to shoot it, or touch it up. i would be inclined to just touch it up, particularly if you suspect it might happen again...

Cover it with a front splitter. I'm sure many here have done that...

I had a very small chunk repair done on another part of the car. It went into the glass composite. Cost to repair it was $174 but there were good lines to stop the respray at. You could never tell that the repair was done, even if I pointed out to you where it was and it came with a lifetime paint/glass warranty .

haha, it's been almost two years to the day since I did this. A little bondo, sanding, color coded paint and, altho not perfect it is good enough for me. No one notices unless I point it out. I have since put a splitter on so now I smash the crap out of that instead.

Fairly common issue and easily repaired. I had my Elise done and it looks good as new.

By the way.... I'm not sure I would put this thread in the "salvage yard".

The clam protectors are awesome. I live in a very hilly area with a very steep driveway. I do what I can, but light scrapes do happen. The first time I scraped the nose I was cursing myself like crazy. I pulled over, noticed the scrape, but noticed it was only on this "little plastic thing". Quick search found that the official part was only $110 for the pair. I have scraped numerous times since then and they protect my clam perfectly and were great to have around while learning how much room I have. I'll just have to swap them out in a year or two when they get too beat up.
