Unhappy RIP Jack Griffith (BZRD69). Accident fatality near Austin TX

Sorry if this is a repost:

Edit to the donation information, randyc

In lieu of cards or flowers being sent, Jack’s family has requested that we make donations in Jack’s name to www.heifer.org A registry in Jack’s name has been created. When donating please use this link http://www.heifer.org/myregistry/jackgriffith

Heifer has many initiatives and you can read about them on their website, but in a nutshell Heifer is committed to brining an end to world hunger. Their approach follows the old proverb "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Heifer takes this to next level by providing a holistic approach and unique initiatives to solve this problem. Through our donations Heifer is able to buy livestock/goods for families. Families are gifted with the livestock/goods and they are taught through various Heifer programs on how to use/manage the livestock/goods to create their own self sustaining environment.

So let’s all band together during this time of sorrow for Jack’s family and loved ones. Let’s show our support and fill up an ark with animals.

PS
Just to share words from Leslie...

<i>"Please let Randy and the rest of the group know that he loved elisetalk. I think he checked it at least 20 times a day!!! He loved to share your polls/topics with me and he loved looking at pics of who was doing what with their cars. His favorite thing was showing off pics of what he did to his car! Jack loved driving his Elise!"</i>

I think we all can relate to this and that's why we are a tight community.

Sickening, easily the worst damage I have ever seen to an elise in an accident. Looks like the owner tracked the car, 4 point belts and a rear wing. Someone on the other forum mentions that it was two 17 year old kids that died?

Truly sad

Does anyone know the mechanism of the accident? From the appearance of the car and the speedometer it looks like the impact occurred at 112 mph, which means they were either going significantly faster when they lost control or things went bad in a real big hurry.

I think that was in reference to a different post in the same thread. Check out the other posts and you'll see a pic of a car that wrecked in NY that I think that bit about them being 17 yrs old refers to.

Looks something rolled over the front end horizontally, like they got squirrely at 100+ and went under something sideways.

Very sad.

crimminy, looks like something went straight over the front, the needle in the cluster is really sensitive i doubt its any reliable indication of speed.

makes you think doesn't it.

Man o man I was afraid of that I went past that accident yesterday they
closed the whole highway moved all the traffic to one side didn't get a good
look at the car just a quick glance at the rear-end I was hoping it wasn't an elise but I guess it was.
From were the car was sitting it looked like someone turned in front of him from the chicken lane.Whoever it was R.I.P.

Looks like the car was run over, just cannot see the firewall leaving any other way. But... Feel for the passenger(s), but how did it come apart?

The 2 17 years olds on the other forum I believe we the accident mentioned above it as those 2 posters were NY and this accident was TX. (just the way I followed the thread)

whoa, my first thought was that it was BZRD69 since he has the silver car with RACs and gut spoiler, but now i'm not sure if it was the two 17 year olds. either way my condolences to the family

I think the two 17 year olds is in reference to the pic of the BMW in NY also in that thread (note the usernames).

I don't recognize the car and haven't seen it at MSR. The officer's shoulder patches don't look like either Austin PD or Bee Cave PD.

Sad... perhaps some of the Austin guys will recognize the car.

He also had painted calipers, carbon seats, etc.

Like in the posts above, I think the 17 year olds were another accident. This probably was BZRD69's car.
