SCCPC11165HL30462 Killed by falling tree

A large maple scored a direct hit on the Elise and a glancing blow on my pickup.

I don't know if the chassis was damaged when the tree hit it, but the tow driver used chains through the A-arms when he took it away, so it isn't salvageable now.

On the other hand, if there is anyone in the Seattle-Tacoma area who is looking for an Elise cover, I have both a flannel and nylon cover which I would part with for a reasonable price.

I also have some a set of Advan Neova AD07's which have some life left on them and might make decent autocross tires. Those I will happily give away.

Woah! That's awful

Running chains through the a-arms isn't the end of the world. Best worse case is the arms are bent but the pickup points are ok. Heck, mine went into a wall, bent up the arms, and the chassis was fine. Those arms are a weak leak in order to protect the chassis, so I'd never let a tow guy use them, but that alone isn't going to relegate the car to being parts. Now a tree falling on it on the other hand...

Damn, wish I was local, I'd take the tires from you.

That's insane! I assume this was during a storm?

Doge,

It wasn't too windy, but we'd gotten a lot of rain. Being woken up at 3:30am by a loud crash followed by the car alarm is not a good way to start a weekend. Although, my neighbor who came to see what had happened told me, "you look pretty calm for someone who's just lost a Lotus."

Going to attempt to purchase it back from the insurance company for track usage but who knows how that will go.

It looks like this car is for sale in the San Diego, CA area. It appears that the car was color changed to black. I noticed that the car has yellow painted calipers and yellow interior accents. The car looks pretty nice. Here is a link and a screen shot.
