Hans experience
OK, I don't really have time to search. I've got a guy nearby who wants to sell a HANS he does not need anymore. It's a "20", I'd need to get the attachments for the helmet. I tried it on in my car, pretty tight. I have Exige type seats, 4Tress bar, Schroth harness with 4" shoulder. I'm not sure if it puts my head too far forward, but I'll try driving with it tomorrow (not attached to helmet, just for fit).
Question: is anyone using this setup with an expectation of increased safety with decent comfort? Again my apologies for not searching, I'm at a hotel in bumf**k with limited internet accesss.

I picked up a Model 20 Medium a few weeks ago and used it at VIR recently. I also added the sliding tether to it. On track I didn't even notice it was on. The sliding tether gave me enough head travel that I didn't even think about it. I would imagine that the stock tethers would be a little restrictive. I can't speak for the experience with the Exige seats since I'm running the Reverie XC seat now, but they work great with the Reveries. I've got no rubbing or any contact between the HANS and the seat at all. As for belts, I'm running the Schroth Profi II-6 Hans belts (2" Shoulders). Hope that helps. - Reg |

i doubt your seats are hans compatable, so you should replace the drivers side seat. if your using the hans properly , you better believe your going to get increased safety(IMO). you need your belts installed correctly width and angle of shoulder strpas for the hans to work as designed. if it sounds like alot to do, its worth it. again, IMO, the hans is great. i have tested mine out on track in a t-bone at slow speed(thankfully) and it does work. I also wont get into a car on track w/o it. i own 2. one for the FF car, and one for my sedan. model 20 is the correct one for you, but check your neck size. M is what most people are(meduim 15-18 "neck) but if you are a big guy, than you may need a large( 18 + neck i think). your are thinking correctly to get the hans, just go all the way and do it right, or dont expect anything other than a placebo .
