Embedded ads in posts? Where's it going to stop?

Cars

Pickups

Drive

These words in other posts have mouse-over ads attached to them... Sad day indeed...

Either they're implemented by your ISP, or you have a program on your computer that's causing it (virus, stop downloading porn).

I don't see any such things.

Edit; Download the Firefox web-browser, and get the pop-up blocker.

Read the advisory by the forum. They are from Elisetalk. Open your User CP, click edit profile. Scroll down to the bottom and turn them off...

It's never going to stop.

They are putting ads on everything they possibly can.

Pretty soon, you'll unwrap a condom and it'll flash "Don't forget the K-Y Lubricant! Buy it now at Rite-Aid!"

Did it. Twice. Selected disable and save. Still have annoying green bar ads all over. If one in every 12,500,000 spam e-mails gets a response, I wonder how many of of these super annoying intrusive ads actually get a click through or a sale. It HAS to be less than the spam mail. As I matter of fact I vow not to purchase anything I see advertised in such a matter. Ever. Not that I ever look at them, but still annoying to have big squares of ads if your cursor accidentally hits them.

Also a sponsor of the site, it's really nice to pay a grand a year and then have you and your fellow board sponsors absolutely and completely buried under gazillions of other ads. I certainly can't see putting up the funds again when my ad runs out on here. Looks like the new owners are getting enough revenue for burying the entire page in ads without a need to promote a sense of community anymore. Feels like it's not a community, it's a commercial.

...likewise, i've turned them off in my profile, yet they still show up on IE7 at work...honestly, they're a usability disaster and make navigating lotustalk a twitchy minefield of cursor placement - i deliberately avoid websites which use them...

I've tried it twice now as well and it didn't work.

I'm on Firefox 3.0.3 with adblock running right now. Still get the mouse-over ads.

We use IE at work and that's where I first ran into them today.

It's getting less and less enjoyable being here...

I added the following filter to Firefox adblock pro and success:

Quotes are present only to keep it from looking like a link in this post.

Yeah adblock

Try misspelling all the words!

On a more serious note I use a web browser called "Secure IE" and I don't have any problems with the ads.
