Has Lotus Talk jumped the shark?

Over the last few years I have enjoyed this site. It has been both informative and entertaining. I have learned about issues with the cars and received instruction about maintenance. There have been some very entertaining non car related posts as well - picture of the day comes to mind. I don't post much but have enjoyed checking out the site. Lately, though it seems the tone has changed and some of the usual posters whose opinions I have enjoyed, seem scarce. Maybe this is the natural history of these sorts of sites, but for me it seems less interesting than before. So, just wondering - Has Lotus talk jumped the shark?

What do you guys think?

There was a misunderstanding on the site and some members took it upon themselves to create and migrate to another site. Most still post here and enjoy the technical side of things, but keep their off-topic banter to the other. I am surprised nobody PMd you about it. Don't be surprised if they are back soon. I get the feeling their site won't last long... Why not pick up where they left off?

LotusTalk is still a GREAT website for Lotus cars and all other sports cars.

I guess it depends on who you ask. Some of the old timers may say the shark was jumped with many new member, who didn't actually have to wait for their cars, came on board (around 2006-2007). Some may say the shark was jumped with the forum was sold, or when Transio changed his name, etc.

Also, I think a lot of early owners have sold their cars and moved on. The Elise doesn't seem to have a long owenr rentention rate so the forum is going to change and new members come in.

Apparently not. Civility has now disappeared for many disgruntled members. Frankly I am surprised that grown adults can act so childish at times. This is highly abnormal for respectable Lotus drivers...

Why are there "disgruntled" members?

A few members decided that they didn't enjoy the forum anymore. We will leave it at that. If you want some background info, check around the forum. There are posts that should explain things.

Nadeem

EDIT: I'm sure you will get a PM explaining if you don't already know.

This thread has served it's purpose...

If people are posting links to porn sites, ban them; I have no problem with that. But your assertion that we are "complaining about everything under the sun knowing full well the reasoning behind all of this" is rather hollow, and assumes that the reasoning behind the latest change(s) was somehow publicly explained beforehand.

It's too bad you didn't catch any of the posts in the last few days where things were explained. The baiting and member scraping has to stop. I am not interested in a soap opera or battling with "E-Thugs". I will continue to take the high road and let the members make their own decisions.

Lots of the most prolific posters migrated... :P and yes there is a vacuum here IMHO.

Here is my original post in its entirety if you need a reminder.
The 15 minute limit is in line with some of our other forums, and there were posts made indicating that threads would be deleted. It is a simple protection of the great posts on the site. You can post wherever you choose, but stirring the pot is not an option here. It is just as bad as referring people to other sites, which has already started by the way, with some of our more infantile members changing their avatars and profiles to reflect the other site.

Others have even reverted to PMing new members as seen with a test account I started. Again, I don't wish to battle with the "E-Thugs" some have turned out to be here. I would only like to move forwards and keep the posts on topic. Thanks.

I am so confused...

I have been trying to follow this thread (mainly because it is one of the only active ones at the moment) and it keeps changing by the minute (posts added, posts removed) and now there is a post from an admin quoting some guy's comment that is seen nowhere in the thread...

Why don't you just close the thread already? Then no more bashing will occur, no more mentions of other threads under people's breath will occur. Leave it in the forum for reference to others wondering about the slowed traffic, but just close it forcrissake.

It is obvious this particular thread has gotten out of hand... just close it already.

That would be the highest road to take in my opinion.

"Thread has gone off topic and is no longer talking about feedback for this forum so thread closed"

Thats all you have to do.

Sheesh...
