New thread ads blow...

Whats up with the ads? You type in certain words like cars <--- see how that got underlined? Mouse over and you get the spam.

Thought I downloaded an exe file.

...you can disable the hotlinks in User CP -> Edit Profile -> IntelliTXT Ads; they'll only show up when you're not logged in, then...

Embedded ads in posts? Where's it going to stop?

I just lost adblock due to a browser change and all the ads appeared.

HAVE THEY LOST THEIR DAMN MINDS TO DO THIS TO A FORUM?!!!!

If those ads had been on here when I first ran across elisetalk by accident, I wouldn't have been on it any longer than I was this time, about five seconds before hitting delete.
I had to go add adblock again or I would have never come back.
And it's supposed to be worse before you log in?

Why?

Why make a forum totally useless?

If I had to look at animated ads, I would go out of my way to NOT buy any products advertised that way.

Why would you want to drive people away from a site?

Is this marketing by anti-car folks or maybe the firm of Moe, Larry and Curly?

There's often now a drop down ad in the page header that completely blocks the page's navigation tools. The current ad implementation leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm using adblock plus and nothing else.
I see a park place lotus ad at the top and nothing else.
No animation or I'd be gone.
Where's the ad value in that?

Try adding that to firefox.

the ads that expand and take over the screen really anger me. I usually leave sites that have then just based off the annoyance factor. is there no way to prevent those ads?

+100

I disabled "IntelliTXT Ads" but still get those obnoxious animated ads. Extremely annoying.

It's hard to see the point of contextual ads when hot linking words like "car."
