It still reflects what I believe is his philosophy. I'm not going to put words in his mouth, but the way "I" look at it it is a realitively open forum for Lotus enthusiasts, not an auto forum for Lotus enthusiasts. Just by the threads we see each day most are about the car some are about life. The odds just seem to play out, large percentage car. Low percentage on life, just as Randy's posts. I think he set the tone, and he hit the nail on the head from day one and that is truely amazing.
How did you extrapolate from the discussion about a sub forum for political and religious threads as "removing all off topic discussions"?

No one suggested removing off topic discussions. I've never even seen a car forum (or any forum) that doesn't have an off topic section

And BTW, how many threads did Randy start about religion or politics?

Putting it into it's own sub-section is not really limiting it, it's just giving people a specific place to play.

And BTW, a forum is private owned, freedom of speech doesn't apply. Just like when you are in someone's home, you can perhaps say whatever you want, but you can also be kicked out for it

That is what I do, and why it is so frustrating to me, because those topics dominate the results. That is why I want to see a "new post w/o politics" function, or not have politics show up in "new posts" but in order to do that, there first has to be a section for politics/religion to separate them.

I really don't see why there is objection to this, it is a win, win situation, those who want to discuss P/R can still do so, and those that don't, don't have to deal with it as it will be invisible to them.

Perhaps it should be put to a vote

Not really. Calling the ex president a wanker isn't really political, it's just a statement.

You really are clueless.

Takes all kinds .

Maybe you don't like the political threads because they are weighted against Obama and his wonderful administration.

Is everyone starting to see why there is no political forum or anything being done to encourage even more political threads??...and why they end up getting locked so quickly sometimes??? Which is where I see this one going....

Actually, I see even more reason why they need their own sandbox to play in so not to bother the grown ups

Is advertising on this forum based on the number of posts that the forum gets? If so limiting what can be posted here could affect how much advertising we get to support LT. Just a thought.

BTW are there political threads on LT??

Except discussing Lotus is the main purpose of the forum
..... And they have their own section for it

Sorry but there is a reason why the saying "never discuss politics or religion in mixed company" exists

Look, if I was king I wouldn't allow it at all, but I am not, so I am proposing (a separate section) what I think is a fair compromise and I really fail to see why people are against it, everybody wins
