So my IP address has been banned... - LotusTalk

Hi. Logged on at 6 this morning. Was fine. Went to log on 2 hours later and it said "site admin has banned your IP address". What ? Why? Just wondering. What's going on. I can get on and post from my phone. My user name says registered user. So just looking to find out what's going on. Thankyou

It's likely that you were not banned, but someone with a similar IP was banned. Have the admins check your IP and delete it from the "Banned" list.

Got an email from Randy. He says my accout is good. Yet I'm still banned.

A lot depends on your ISP connection. Do you have (pay for) a dedicated IP or do you get one 'assigned' from a pool at your ISP (more common). Its possible that one of the IP's in the pool has done something 'bad' --intentionally or not. It's also possible You have done something 'bad' unintentionally---and by that, I mean, it's possible that your system (or a system on your network if you have network) has been corrupted --Trojans are very common lately--and is sending out garbage by your IP.

If you have a pooled IP from your ISP. shutting off the modem for a minute or so may et you a new addr from the 'pool'.

Do you know what your IP address that was banned is? Many IPs get banned from spammers and you might have got caught in friendly fire.

Found it. There are like 100+ IPs you use and over 100 IPs that were on the banned list. And one was a match. You seem to use dynamic IPs so it may have been like that for a while until today.

Anyway, unbanned it.
