Maintenance and such

Just curious, what do you guys do when something breaks? Fix it yourself? Use the CNC machine you happen to have laying around to make another bracket that you can't source or a something or other? I think these cars are awesome, and I see an M400 I could possibly pick up...but I wonder what its going to be like actually owning it and putting some miles on it :s. Whats the general consensus in this area like?

You can still source parts from Rossion I believe. Dean in Florida could get you mostly everything I think? I'm sure it gets crazy pricey with these cars quickly though

I thought lotus clamshells were expensive at a few $K a pop, plus paint plus install, but then I saw this:
Where to Get Rear Clamshell - Noble Rossion Forums
£3500 in the UK - unpainted. That's $5,500 give or take. Don't forget shipping to the US, and clear-bra. Sounds like a decent amount of work to replace a clam too (similar to the lotus)?

For Maintenence/repairs, if you can't do it, I'm sure Hoover at Turbohoses in Livermore could

I had a Noble for 5 years and used an ex-Porsche techician/race shop owner for support. I could always get parts either from 1G/Rossion or from the local Ford dealer. The car uses a lot of standard Ford parts.

In Texas there is a Rossion service provider in each major city. There is a shop in Dallas, one in Austin and one in Houston. They can also work on Nobles of course.

Any good race shop with some turbo experience can easily support the cars.

The rossion clamshell might be cheaper.

Is there anything on these cars that tend to break? Are suspension parts insanely unique, or are they like the engine using components that are found commonly in other cars? I love the cars and think their performance factor is amazing, I just wonder how its going to go if something breaks.

I know that's a stupid thing to even think about if I am considering a noble.

PM me if you like or we can talk on the phone. I can tell you more details. Summary is that maintenance is not really an issue to worry about. Maintaining my Noble was much less expensive than the 911s.

There is nothing magic or expensive about the suspension parts. If you had to order a clam out of SA, it would cost some but nothing close to what a front bumper costs on a 911, Lambo, Ferrari, etc.

I don't think it is stupid at all. Nobody likes throwing money away. The good news is that for the most part, the parts are not that expensive and work can be done by anyone that is handy. Most of the car is very accessible. Specially compared to my Elise.

Who is the shop in Dallas? With the shenanigans going on at Overseas it sounds like the Noble support system is better than Lotus in the DFW area!!

10.5 Deg?? And I was worried about tire wear at 5 deg in the Lotus.

Assuming that's correct, wouldn't the car try to follow every grove in the pavement?

Yep. Amazing amount of caster. Lee Noble was a genius.

Works great. Does not really tramline.

Cosmos,

I'll get you the number. Ex-F1 mechanic. People that have used him said he is meticulous.

Dallas Support

The shop we have chosen to support the Rossion Q1 in Dallas is Tony Richards. I talked with him today and he has Lotus experience and has been picking up some new customers recently. He also has been doing some Nobles for years.
