K20 swap with toda engine kit.
Forcedfed header

should run about 5k for the motor, 2k for the engine kit, and about 1.5k for the exhaust. ive seen hondas with the toda engine kit put 220 whp down, so with the exhaust it should bump it up a bit. and if thats still not good enough, some higher compression pistons should do the trick. for probably ~10k

take the other 5 grand, toss on some nitrons, some SS brake lines and driving classes

UPDATE: Not super exciting, but the first step, the car getting from Seattle to Houston, was completed today. The car has arrived and it's time for Littlerocket to have some fun

ecu?

Are you going to do the pfc or engine build first?

Both at the same time; that is the main reason for sending the car down to Littlerocket. Build the motor and tune it!

The Apex-i Power FC (PFC) is a standalone engine management system. It is the predominant system in use for 1ZZ and 2ZZ powered vehicles, and works extremely well. We've been using them on the Celica & MR2s since like 2002 with great results. It in no way required the factory ECU's input to run the vehicle, and as such is not subject to interference from the factory ECU.

It can be found commonly for about $700 or less for the 2ZZ variant.

Littlerocket and myself are working to create a patch harness that would make it a plug N play option for the Elise. It would have to work in conjunction with the stock ECU in order to retain gauge & AC functions.

I have a DBW Celica running on the Power FC and LR had an MR2 SMT running on one - I imagine we will be able to make it work on the Lotus as well. We use the stock ECU for throttle control in those cases, as it has all the safegaurds built into it and (quite frankly) its much easier than trying to design some sort of throttle control board.

I'm guessing sometime in March so you will need to "stand it" a bit longer. Littlerocket hasn't really had a chance to get started on the car yet (he had a serious case of the flu during the holidays ). Also, my car arrived with a minor issue that he will need to resolve before getting started.

It will be tough, but I can take it. In this age of instant gratification, I guess I'm a bit spoiled

Thanks for the update!
