6000 Rpm Shut Off?

I have tracked my Exige a few times and each time at some point in the day my rev limiter kicks in at 6000 rpm. The car is well up to temp and doesn't necessarily happen when it is under load. My last race car required a baffled oil pan and 1/2 quart additional oil. I doubt this motor needs more oil but has anyone seen or heard of this? Any ideas?

If the engine temp is low enough not to have a temp displayed in the guage the rev-limiter will kick in at 6K. The shift light will indicate it's about to happen. You say that you're up to temp though, so I'm not sure why it would be kicking in.

It'd only be oil related on long sweeping high G turns.

might be a loose connection ? i haven't heard of it before.

Happened to me today! Engine was very much "warmed up." The only thing that fixed it: Shut car down and started about 20 minutes later. I'm not saying the 20 minutes meant anything... It's just the way it worked out. When I was on my way again... all was back to normal.

At 6000 rpm, the shift light would light up and the rev limiter kicked in VIOLENTLY. It definitely gets your attention.

I'm taking it in for the 7500 mile service next Friday, anyway. Just another thing to add to the list.

Mike
