Damaged Trany cable replaced but...........

As mentioned previously, my trany cable broke free in
the rear area of the car and was chewed up by one of
the axles it got entangled with. Thought that my having
extreme difficulty shifting into 'reverse' was an after
effect of the cable problem but it isn't so. The problem
lies within the 'Lotus upgraded' leather/aluminum shift
knob. If you attempt to tighten the upper knob, the
'lift' mechanism doesn't engage for 'reverse'. You either
have to unscrew the upper 'leather' portion and/or loosen
the bottom portion of the knob in order to get the 'lift'
to work. I can't even use my original 'full aluminum' (or is
that Aloo-min-ee-um?) knob since the 'recalled & replaced'
shifter has a larger mm diameter for the screw like bolt that
attaches to the knob than the orginal one. Mike Fisher want's
to check it out in person and I'm hoping to meet him soon
at Manhattan Motor Cars. I assume that the larger diameter
metal shift knob that accompanies all the new shifters will
have to be used in place of the 'part leather' one.
