DashDaq & Innovate Wide Band
Has anyone with the DashDaq, hooked it up to an Innovate LC-1 Wide Band O2 sensor? Or better yet the Ionnovate MTS Daisy Chain?
I have a DashDaq and the attachment wire for hooking it up, but haven't had the chance to connect them together yet. I did take a quick glance at the instructions and they appear to be seriously lacking, so any hints would be appreciated. |

Innovate and Dashdaq
Sent Scottyb this PM and realized I may have just submitted it to the forum since others may be curious. I thought a simple gauge would be nice, but then thought that I wouldn't be able to watch it all of the time. Data recording would be really nice if an issue arose.
"I hope you can answer some questions. I saw your center gauge write-up and found that you have a DashDAQ and an Innovate LC-1. I have a BWR supercharger and want to monitor AFR with a wideband O2 sensor, and just in case, record the values as well as other system vitals that may be available through the ODBII port. DashDAQ and the LC-1 looked to be the trick and I wanted to know your opinion about the combination. I called innovate motorsports and saw they have a DashDAQ + LC-1 bundle for $699. Which is a better priced combo than I've seen anywhere. Here's the link. Innovate Motor Sports On-Line Store Apparently you just weld the bung, run the cable, and plug it in directly. I am curious about how you ran the cable. Center tunnel or along the side? I believe I would like to mount the system under or beside the A/C, so I just need to get it near the ODBII port. I've not run anything through the firewall yet. Does it require seat removal? I noticed you opted for more physical gauges. Have you found this to be a useless toy? I think mounting it as you have (right of A/c) only begs for a single new A/C and DashDAQ cover plate to be created. A single cover for both units would make it look somewhat factory. Are you happy with the software? Are system data and graphs easy to upload and review on a computer? Is there enough capability to review the charts history on the fly with the unit? I am about to pull the trigger on the purchase, and really wanted to know your opinions."

I ran the cable for the Innovate MTS chain up through the hole in the fire wall for the emergency break cable. Then under the center console to my gauges. And yes I highly recommend removing the seat. I picked up the DashDaq on a whim because they promised GPS, and Charlie was going to make specialized software for it. Well the GPS software was supposed to be released in April of 2008, but it is still not there. Also I believe Charlie had a falling out with the DashDaq people and will not be using there hardware. It is a cool device, and I got it so that I could monitor and log the OBDII. I discovered that Charlie’s tune is absolutely solid and really I have not used it much at all now. However, when I finally get some free time, I will write my own software for the DashDaq. As for my gauges on the center console. I look at those all the time. It is nice seeing how much boost and my O2 values along with my water injection flow. If I was to do it all over again, I would still place those 3 gauges there, but probably would have opted for something other than the DashDaq. Hope that helps. |

I only intended showing AFR through wideband and not odbII on the DashDAQ.
Also, I appreciate the input on the install through the center channel. I just read that there is a 11/04/08 release date on the navigation/gps add-on. Version 2 of the software has also been released and they updated their website. DREW The DashDAQ Skin Editor is now publicly available, so I guess we can make the gauges and screens look like we want now. I saw that you and "insane" and "Chili Red" were on their forum discussing installation of the Innovate MTS as well. DashDAQ • View topic - Hooking up to the Innovate MTS Chain The Innovate package that I referred to is supposed to be a clean connection already made up. 02 sensor cable goes from exhaust bung into LC-1 and then directly into dashdaq and the dashdaq shows wideband AFR readings. I ordered the package from Innovate Innovate Motor Sports On-Line Store today and should receive it late next week or possibly a week later. They had to call drewtech to get another DashDAQ delivered to them. Its expensive at around $700, but that includes both the DashDAQ and the Innovate LC-1 in the kit. $700 is the cost for the DashDAQ alone at most websites and the LC-1 is $200. Nothing this expensive is a great deal though. I figure that if I would have to spend at least $400 to get a good AFR gauge installed, and spend a bunch of time running the cable through the interior, I might as well get a display that can read odbII and any additional sensors that can be daisy chained to the LC-1, which is already connected to the DashDAQ. Plus, I can take it out of the lotus and see if I can find the optimal speeds for MPG for my daily commute in my truck. Having the "skin editor" available to the public makes the customization appealing. It will be interesting to find a way to mount this unit cleanly. I'll definitely post a write-up on installment and if I'm inclined, probably try to make a set of gauges to match the interior of the lotus.
