Thanks Mike. We will be monitoring the car for the next several weeks, testing it at the track and drag strip and doing real world driving on the car. I do not expect any long term issues, but that is the reason for all of our testing. To ensure you guys get a well sorted product that Lotus themselves could have sold you as an option through the dealership. Just make sure that if you are thinking of getting our turbo kit that you tick the optional oil cooler package at the dealer. I will have the weight of the kit for you guys on Monday at the latest. I think you will be shocked at how little weight we have added to the car. We will have a dry cell battery option that saves 10 pounds by itself and will make our kit almost a wash as far as additional weight goes!

what's up with the big dips at the cam transition point?

With 93 octane the stock motor makes 10 more HP?

That's with a 93 octane ecu map, not just the higher octane alone.

I guess one would have to settle for 'only' 241 hp in CA on pump gas, or mix 100 octane available in various locations with the 91 to be able to use the more aggressive map.

im interested to know more abt the unichip computer....i assume its a standalone?? hows the cold start up?? hows driveability? i dont doubt u can make some serious power with forced induction, ive done it to a few of my own cars, but sometimes depending on the setup u lose some driveability....how is the car for just cruising down the street at a steady 4k rpms?

Oh, the 10 hp increase on 93 octane is for the turbo motor ONLY? I was talking about the stock motor, no turbo.

Oil cooler package? I haven't heard of it.

The oil coolers are stock on the federal Elise.

That is correct. The Unichip is a piggyback computer, not a stand alone system.

>>> what's up with the big dips at the cam transition point?<<<

That diagram shown above by Forcedfed reminds me the other one somebody else showed for a boosted Celica.

So far I did not drive an Elise equipped with that Yamaha / Toyota engine but when I see the torque curves with or without forced induction I can imagine how it feels driving it in person.

Therefore changing the cam profiles and the computer mapping would be for me the top priority task. I do not understand why neither Toyota nor Lotus tried to solve that problem. The Yamaha engine is younger than Hondas K20A and a Civic R has approximately the same weight as a Celica.

Seems like on a boosted motor you'd want to disable the cam profile change; that's what I've seen done on other boosted variable cam engines. That dip on the boosted dyno looks like it would be unpleasant...

Seems like on both posted graphs that in n/a form (Toyota and Lotus) that they have sorted out the cam transition.
Agree it seems a problem with boosted engines. Hope that Unichip thing can sort it out?

We are still working on tuning the transition out of the crossover and we hope to make it a little smoother. We are also working on a new cam set up for the car and we will be eliminating the VVTI completely with those.
