Val,
Even if it was available for the 111R or American Elise, it doesn't make much sense from an output point of view. You spend quite a bit of money for 30hp and 15 ft-lbs of torque. Does the engine/tranny weigh any less? Perhaps the Honda motor has a much higher potential output? However, there may be other reasons to go for this setup (potential N/A power, close ratio gearbox, etc., reliability, weight, etc.) |

Vantage, as i see it, the reasons for Honda power would be:
1. 300 bhp output with supercharger in reliable and long-lasting form. 2. Reliable, even 300bhp and track use - no problem. 3. Quality - no doggy piggybacks involved. 4. Smooth transition on/off cams. 5. Much more torque down low. Its a lot of bits, but they add up. Worth the price over s/c toyota? I dont know, probably not, but I am personally interested in a KIT in particular, because it will take a lot of time, effort and money to get the car to main europe for install... If it wasnt for that, i would have already got Bemani, which looks like a nice and reliable 265bhp package. |

there are a number of rover and honda elises in the USA.
i know one of the builders has gone through a couple of trannies, and you'll still have ecu issues. sun international have been doing this for a while , i believe they'd been shut down once before by lotus/epa, though don't take my word for it.

Val - if you're serious, you need look no further than Bernard Scouse in the UK. 300hp in a bulletproof Audi conversion that's already well sorted.

220 hp is stock JDM engine. It is not difficult to get 260 crank NA hp out of this engine. I've even seen over 300 crank NA hp also. This engine weighs 380 lbs or so, I forgot.

there is a lot of "history" between sun international and prototype racing on this board and others. I don't know enough about it.
Can anyone vouch for these guys? do they provide good service? do they make a good kit? |
