LE T300 Elise/Exige turbo package, Awesome

Last weekend at Barber Motorsports Park I track-tested the Limited Edition 300 HP Elise/Exige turbo package developed by Wilkins Motorsports and Hypersport Engineering.

The Turbo Elise was astonishingly fast. Onlookers called it a rocket.
Testing was highly successful confirming the drivability of the LE T300 Turbocharged Elise.

The LE T300 starts quickly in cold air, idles smoothly, the turbo spools smoothly with no lag, has impressive low end torque and has astounding accelleration when the cams come in. Even in the heavy rain at the track on Friday there were no drivability issues and on Sunday on a dry track I logged the highest speed I have ever been on a track, the Elise had impressive acceleration out of the turns, never spun or even came close.

Unlike the pre-turbo Elise, I gained ground and often passed cars that normally would walk away on the straights. The engine ran flawlessly throughout the power band, stayed cool at about 187F and was easy to restart when at racing temperatures. The turbo sound is sweet through the CAT only headers but was not loud. We will test again at Road Atlanta next weekend.

Dyno testing had already confirmed a consistent 285 HP at the wheels translating to >300 HP at the flywheel. Dyno testing had confirmed cold start, idle, and smooth accelleration and consistent horsepower at low boost levels. Track testing confirmed that innate Elise handling, braking and the turbo accelleration made an unbeatable combination for road or track! Patrick Dempsy was testing his Mustang at Barber and took the Turbo Elise for a run. He really liked the way it performed. Rick Shelton had his Light Green Hypersport Elise at the track. He drove the LE T300 turbo elise and was very impressed as well.

Only 25 of LE T300 turbo packages will be offerred this year. Each will be numbered and will have special graphics to identify the LE T300 Turbo Elise or Exige. The turbo packages will be marketed by Wilkins Motorsports and installed by Kirt Wightman of Hypersport Engineering at the Atlanta race shop.

We announced on Sunday February 26, 2006 that we will be marketing and installing the turbo package. As of today we have five orders for the LE T300 Turbo package including a customer with a new 2006 Exige. For customer convenience, each turbo installation will be scheduled for a specific date and all work will be completed within two weeks.

In addition to the turbo packages a customer may have have other performance enhancements installed like adjustable race shocks, alloy wheels, larger brakes, SS brake lines, fire systems, harnesses, cut off switches, roll bars, race seats, removable steering wheels, lap timers, and lift-off/tilt-up rear clams in the Atlanta race shop.

PM me if you need more information like a components list, dyno sheets, photos, available appointment times and pricing.

Some kit specifics would be nice to see.

Big question really is how was engine managment addressed.

What's the price? Who gives a crap about what number they get. Lets see dyno specs and details. Running cool at 187F in Feb is not hard in the rain There are many rockets Scud or Saturn so post it.
After all it is a Toyota in a Lotus this is not the super wazoo....Only 25 ?

1.What is the turbo unit and at what psi is 285whp achieved?
2.What engine managment was used?

I am just amazed how many players have jumped into the turbo Elise game.....for such a niche car these guys have about 2500 new canidates a year vs Mustang at about 190,000 per year.
Does everybody think the Elise is THAT underpowered??

Lucien,
I have to skip this coming track day at Road Atlanta (sold my exhaust-new one isn't here yet) but I would like to check out the car. Any chance of me passengering a few laps? Saturday or Sunday?

HyperSport installed my pads, lines, and Motul fluid so if anyone here needs a reference I highly recommend their work.

(Hijack).Anyone installing or developing a turbo or supercharger for the Elise in South Florida? If I had to guess Florida is second to Califonia for cars in state, there is a market down here wating for a tuner.

With all these players, chosing which tuner is getting harder. I wonder what it would take to get FF, Hass, Ragnorak, Greddy, Komo-Tec, PF Supercars, Wilkins Motorsports, etc all in one place to see how they line up?
