By the way, my car has the factory engine mount and it move quite a bit as far as I understand. Will the moment of the engine affect your mod? Did you test the shifter in a factory mount or after market harder mount? Last edited by Mr. Know : 04-13-2009 at 09:28 PM. Reason: fixed formatting |

I called on the anodizing again today and I am working on getting a decent price for the lot, but they are being a pain so far in that they will not quote until they get to see the full lot in hand. I am now trying to find another place that is easier.

why do you want it anodized? you cant see it and it adds extra cost. Aluminum doesn't corrode like steel, it doesn't matter if its bathed in rain or not.
Troy, if you are going to anodize, make sure they mask off the bearing assembly surfaces as it adds some small thickness to the material and may (or may not) throw you off your press-fit tolerance. (don't anodize with the bearing already pressed in for obvious reasons)

natural contact with the o2 in the air will form a layer of Aluminum oxide on bare aluminum. Aluminum oxide is a very hard and corrosion resistant material and will protect the AL from corrosion. Anodizing just enhances this process.
Typical anodizing and hard anodizing for industrial components are mainly for aesthetics, abrasion, and resistance to harsh chemicals. Not really applicable for this component.

On anodizing I was going to do it for looks and not function if that is what everyone wanted, but personally you will not really see it when installed and it will just blend in with the transmission soon enough. Also, anodizing does fade over time and does not look as good as new. If I did all of the parts it would cost about $5-8 per unit and an extra week or two it would take them to do in production. If someone really wants it please PM me and I can see what I can do on a one off basis for extra cost.
Should be fixed now. I just updated it. I had to charge $15 shipping for both, but if you place an international order you will see the LETSLA costing $25 more to make up for the shipping charge so the overall price is the same. This was just easier then requesting money each time as there seems to be a lot of requests overseas now. HTML Code:

so this kit includes the parts I need to perform the shifter mod as well?
from the installation instructions: "Also included in the kit is a 30mm spacer, 50mm 8x1.25 bolt, flat washer and locking washer. This is used to stabilize the side to side motion." ![]()

Troy,
How do you see this mod working in conjunction with my second generation Sector111 Ikeya shifter? After changing out to Sector111's new motor mount kit shifting(inline) is a bit more precise but still leaves a lot to be desired. Your linkage looks sweet! ![]() Once installed does it require any adjustment? Last edited by perryeyges : 02-04-2009 at 10:26 AM. |

I do not see this as a problem at all as it is a seperate unit and will help fine.
I will also be redoing the instructions this weekend myself as I found some easier ways to do it and I was trying to be super anal which made it overcomplicated. Quote:

Not to pile it on, but curious as to the ETA on the cable upgrade? When I go in there I want to do everything in one shot.

I am working on this and working out details about design and requirements. I should have a sample in about two weeks. Then I can test the sample out and make sure it is up to specs. Then I will order if I can get the price where it needs to be and they said it would take 4 weeks to manufacture. So we are realistically looking at about 2 months. This is mainly due to only wanting to go with a specific manufacture for the cable itself as that is the only company I found that would be able to do the tight tolerances and inner cable requirements to have almost no loss of motion and very low friction. All the rest I found did not address the issues to my liking. I know that it seems like a long time, but for something as specific as the cable and how complicated it actually is it takes time.

Is the cable just for reduced friction? Are there any other benefits? What is involved with its installation? Thanks.

The cable would be in addition to the LETSLA. It will have much less friction when under pressure and will have much less, almost none, loss of motion. So what this means is the connection from the shifter to the LETSLA will be a much more solid feel. I did speak to the manufacture in depth today. They are making me up a sample and sending it to me next week so I can test it out and see how good it is in a real world situation. I will post results when I have them.
