MWR transmission
I have a transmission from MWR with a 3.9 final drive with LSD and find the lower gears are too high even with 280 HP. Does anyone know if the gears from my old box are interchangable and just leave a tall 6th gear for quiet highway cruising.
Where can I find a workshop manual for these transmissions?

Changing diff ratios
I have just had a rethink, if I put my in old diff then I will get the ratios that I want exactly. So my question is how hard is it to change the diff and can I put the old final drive ratios onto my new LSD.

Anyone out there done a gearbox rebuild. I want to know how to get the gears off the shaft that engages the diff crown wheel
to change them over.I removed the circlip but could not budge the double gearset even with a gear puller.I have searched the web for photos or instructions and found very little. Help. 6 speed Toyota C60 gearbox.

You could swap the gear sets. You need to pull 5th and 6th off the two shafts then you can get the middle section of the housing off. Keep the LSD and longer 6th gear from the 3.9 trans, use the rest of the guts from the 4.5 trans.
It takes somewhat specialized pullers to get the gears and bearings off the shafts. We modified / fabricated the ones we have after finding no standard pullers that could do the job. |
