I finished putting my clam on this morning. I drove if for probably 40 miles, and it worked fine. No CEL! I thought I would hear a whistling sound, although my exaust sounds deeper. I took it to a local mechanic, and he suggested waiting a week before testing the MAS. He didn't want to rev the engine that high so soon. What do you think?
There is a stretch of road close to my house, that is my imaginary quarter mile (not sure if it is even close to a quarter mile). Before the s/c, I would floor it and get roughly 105 mph. I tried it this morning, although I didn't floor it and only reved it to 6500 rpm. I got to 105 mph. Floored, I'll bet it'll do 120.

So, you don't hear the S/C at all?

I'll be disappointed if I don't get a little whine

I was kinda looking forward to the whine, but no, mine doesn't seem to do it at all. I am 52, so maybe its my hearing. Also, it may do it when I floor it in a few days.

Got mine installed yesterday, and sent the ECU off to PES this morning. I did it clam off, which was a lot of fun, and meant there was never any contortion needed. Lotus even includes a nice shelf in the back of the car for all your tools! My dad and I did the whole thing in under 8 hours, including a tranny fluid change, poly motor mounts, the TRD/Cup airbox, and lunch. But two people make it go a lot faster.

The '07's seem to have a few differences- The stock TB has 4 studs, and no bolts. I couldn't figure out how to get the TB off without pulling the coolant lines, so I pulled them. The fuel line is on the side of the coolant tank, not below. But nothing that isn't pretty obvious and easy.

It did start and idle without tossing any fluid out, so now I wait for the mailman.

Same with mine but with a green filter and the snorkel removed, you can hear it really well.

I put a K & N air filter on mine. I would assume it is basically the same as a Green filter. As for desnorkling, what is a snorkle? What benefits does taking it off do?

it's a tube that goes from the side vents to the air box. As for benefits, probably sound. Some claim a 1-2 hp increase in a dyno setting, and weight reduction i guess

If you know what you are listening for you can hear some whine, but not much. Maybe the snorkle needs to come off my car as well.

I would love to hear more whine that what I can hear, but the good news is I can hear some. Isn't it amazing how all of our senses (with exception to taste) go into the enjoyment of our cars.

Rick,

I hope you are proud of your accomplishment. Even though we have not met, I am proud of what you did. Going from "well I want one but cannot install it", to "where can I take it to get installed" to "I will come install if for you" to "Save the trip, I will install it myself" is awesome.

Hopefully when I come to St. Louis you can still make the trip down and we can have a drink or two. I know I could get you tickets to the Rams games, nobody else wants them.

Enjoy!!

Yeah, not nearly as much whine as my mini cooper JCW. My kids called it the "angry cat"

Mine with a K&N (and de-snorkled) does whine but only when at near full throttle and then only above 3500 rpm... at around the 6500, or so, the Stage II starts drowning out the whine. I couldn't hear any whine at all with the stock filter in.

You can hear the system whirring all the time, even at idle. But it only whines when you really get on it. Sounds like the Delorean in Back to the Future... except without the burbly V8.

I've put around 90 miles on it so far, and still have not floored it. 7000 is as far as I have gotten it. But I can tell you this, THIS CAR IS BAD!!! It gets to 100 real quick. Has anybody tried to top one out and see just how fast it will go? I don't know if I have the guts.

Rick, holler at me sometime and maybe we can meet in St. Louis. We can bring our wives, and have a foursome (just kidding). Martha would probably love to spend the weekend there. I'll drive the Lotus up there.
Rick

I don't either -- I can tell you that I have hit 205 km (122 mph) in 5th with room to spare. But for the most fun is running through 3 to 5 and taking on traffic!
