I have a slight concern. Have had my SC in for almost 200 miles. When opening the throttle more than 50% at any RPM (usually below 5,000), there is a slight delay before there's any real forward acceleration. It feels like throttle cutting out, and it only occurs for a split second. Is this SC lag? What can this be? It's very slight but noticeable.

You guys asking about plugs may want to read this thread:

To all Katana S/C users...regarding spark plugs.

Installation manual: #138a is only for the 05' correct? Doesn't seem to apply to '06's. TIA

Just in case you don't carry the instructions in your back pocket.

#138a says: Remove the lower 13mm bolt as shown from the throttle adapter casting. Attach the supplied support bracket. Re-install the 13mm bolt. Attach the other end of the bracket to the block using the supplied 17mm hex head screw and washer.

Doesn't apply to 06's ... right?

I bolted that supplied bracket up to my 06 and it fit perfect.

The bracket worked perfect on my '07 as well. It's a different bracket you are thinking of that is only used on the 05 non-DBW cars, and even then, only some of them.

Is there more throttle lag than before you installed the SC kit? If so, based on my experience, this isn't normal.

While this isn't directly correlated to your situation, one of the things I do understand about the BWR (and Katana) kit over the intercooled solutions is that the latter has a little more lag due to additional piping with intercoolers.

W/O driving it, I would say it is the bypass valve closing and normal. If you are driving at a steady speed in say 3rd gear, then slowly roll in the throttle take say 1 full second to get to 50% throttle. When you get to the 50% throttle. Mash it. Do you still have the delay?

It fit perfectly on my 06 as well. So I would say it does apply to 06's.

I sent my ECU FedEx overnight to PES on Thursday and I received it back today (Monday). I was shocked that it was returned so quickly. Thanks PES!

I dropped it in, it fired up, and NO check engine lights. The hard part now is taking it easy for 200 miles. On my inaugural voyage, a hopped up Civic pulled up to me at a light trying to get me to race. In four years of owning this car, I have never drag raced it. Boy, did I want to. I told him to meet me out at Harris Hills some day and we'll see who has a faster car.

I have a few hundred miles on the car now (300+), the detonation problem has gotten better but has not gone completely away.

Today I filled up with 100 unleaded, and now there is no detonation at all. I even think there is a power increase and it already appears that the mileage has gone up. The only issue is here in Sacramento 100 (at the pump) is $7.99/gallon.

I have called the local Sunoco dealer to see what I can get the fuel for by the barrel (and if he will deliver). I am thinking about running 50/50 but we will see.

Given the issue is still there I need to check for leaks now, there is nothing that scares me more than "pinging". So much in fact I will pay $8/gallon to ensure it does not happen.

I have changed the MAS and it did not make any difference (after we cleaned the other one).

The detonation only occurs when the car is under a serious load (with 91 octane).

Anyways, time to keep looking to see if we can find an issue.

How can you identify pinging? Can you hear it? Sometimes the sound is very faint.

You may want to experiment with the ratio of 100/91 octane gasoline. 50/50 mix is probably too much. Recommend that you experiment (e.g. 85/15) to see what works best.

I can hear it, then again I am listening for it with the radio off. As I said it did get better after we cleaned the mass air sensor, did not get any better after I replace the sensor.

Agreed, but what a pain. Any idea if you can use Octane boost and accomplish the same thing with less pain and more economical?

Although I do like the added power with 100

As long as do not tell the wife I am paying $8 a gallon maybe there is not a problem.

Certainly is a pain. I do not recommend using octane booster. It offers very little bang for your buck.

Did you change out your spark plugs?

No vacuum leaks? Have you tried gas from another service station? I share your frustration as a couple of years back I had similiar problems with my supercharged Jeep Wrangler. I ended up getting my ECU reflashed and a slightly larger pulley.

I am up to 120 miles since install and I can already feel the increase in tq without even going close to WOT. I did have a CEL for running too rich which I assume is coming from my test pipe. I cleared and will monitor.
