Uh oh...

Looking at that picture, it appears that FVMC may have put something back on that they shouldn't have. There is a black plastic cover bolted on the top obscuring the BWR cover underneath--see my two pictures. Should that piece not have been put back on, or what? If it should come off, how hard is that to do? FVMC is an hour and a half away from me, don't want to kill a whole day if it's a simple matter of undoing and redoing a couple of bolts. Fred?

Those three bolts. Extremely simple. It does not hurt to have the cover on. Does not look as nice with it on in my opinion.

Wheeeeeeee!

Finally drove mine today. Totally different car. No obvious torque peaks, but I didn't go more than about 75% throttle. You know, taking it easy

The sound? None I can pick up when it's at idle or cruise, but when the bypass closes, my car screams. I love it. Huge whine from over my shoulder. I don't have any aftermarket headers or exhaust, but I do have the Lotus Sport/TRD airbox with a green air filter.

My car does the very slight delay when you get on it sometimes too. If it is the bypass closing, I'm surprised the bypass is that slow. I'm actually wondering if it's the cam switching now that the cam is variable on load (PES tune). I'll have to drive it lots more to figure it out

I ended up with one bolt in the end: A 10mm head, grade 8 bolt with no washer. The threads are very short. Anyone remember this from anywhere? I'm wondering if it's really off the car or kit or if it was just lying around in my garage....

Thanks, Randy, also EB. "Extremely simple" fits within my capabilities. Hopefully. And I actually have a T30 (other than the one that comes with the car). What is the purpose of that shield? To keep water off?

It is to hide the wiring harness, injector tails and upper intake insulator. you can see in my pic that I tucked all the wiring so, you wont see it.

The early 05' cars use 5mm allens and the later 05'+ use torx 30. The instruction were designed for an early 05' with amendments to accommodate 06'+ DBW cars.

Steps 77/78 on a 2006 with Clam On

This is to remove the throttle body. I've got all 4 nuts off for spacer and 3 of the 4 for the body to the manifold. I can't reach the lower forward bolt.

I was hoping the throttle body would just come out, then I could remove the last bolt. The collant line is preventing me from removing the TB. Are people just taking this line off? Instructions explicitly say that it reamins attached.

Thoughts?

Steidley - You may get better access to the bolt by removing the top of the intake box and the duct that connect the intake to the TB. These need to be removed later on so it will not hurt anything. I was able to pull my TB off without touching the coolant lines although it did require a little tug.

I don't have the instructions in front of me, but I think it's #64 that states (3) 10mm screws are removed from the rail- Later, when we're buttoning everything back up, only two of those are used because one was on the old intake (I think)- I have the same screw left over-

Are you guys putting you cover for the injectors/fuel rail back on after the install? I don't really feel comfortable leaving the injector wires uncovered (even though taped and heat shrink covered)? I put mine back on, but it looks a little silly. Anyone have an aftermarket solution for that?

Also, mine is installed as off late saturday night. only had a few minutes to test drive (still hadn't replaced body parts) to make sure it was all in place. noticed that it goes through the shifts very quickly now. can't wait to break it in.

Fred,

I must mail back the bushing adjustment tool included with the supercharger kit. Need a mailing address.

Thanks!

I trimmed mine to look more like the Lotus Exige S one.

No rough edges? What did you use to trim?

Dremel wheel to cut then sand it.

I think it would be fine if you wanted it to look nice, to finish with paint.

Mine is already painted, but I might give this a shot. I really like the look of the black bwr sc right there, not covered up.

Here's a pic of my cover. Used a band saw to trim off the edge, then used a rasp and tabletop sander to finish off. IMO, looks better than leaving the cover off entirely.

Cover trim

Took about 20 seconds with a radial arm saw, carbide blade. Was previously painted - No problem!

Can people comment on the PES tune? I've heard of people needing reflash?

I have the PES tune. About 200 miles on the installation and so far, it has run perfectly. No idle issues, no hesitations, no CEL's etc. How it compares to other tunes in terms of relative performance, I couldn't say, but I have no complaints at all.
