Sorry, there is not. Too many intakes with different flow characteristics and diameters for the Mass-Air sensor. Can't make the numbers work for such a small market to do a ton of different tunes.

Alternator Install w/Clam On

My install is going well. Doing clam-on install. At present, I am having some difficulty trying to get the alternator pushed up far enough to slide the mounting bolt through the bushing and alternator. It's a close fit and probably more an issue of leverage than tolerance. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

If you haven't used the bushing tool to adjust that bushing or did adjust it too far, then give that a shot to create clearance. Whatever you do, no BFH!

The bushing alignment tool worked quite well. Presuming that I pulled the bushing far enough to the right (as seen from below), should the alternator slide right in or should it take some force? BFH will not fit, so don't worry about me using that! Thanks!

Mike,

That is pretty funny, we are at the exact same place in the install. I did move the bushing a bit to far, but was able to push it back pretty easily (just took some time). We spent about 3 hours on the car tonight and have the alternator all hooked up in it's new location.

Unless I am missing something we should be done tomorrow night and then we will just be waiting for the ECU (which I sent off this morning, next day air).

The biggest issue we had was getting the belt off the car, but we did it without removing the wheel well. In fact at this point the only things we have taken off the car is the hatch and right wheel. My buddy works on cars all day long and must be double jointed to get to some of the spots he gets to.

Good luck with the remainder of your install. I'm away to Atlanta for the rest of the week, then I'm going on a quick vacation, so I will not be able to finish up until sometime late next week.

Your right about the belt. I cut down a socket and use a breaker bar to reach
that dang tensioner nut. Phase 2 is a ratchet tie down to hold the breaker bar /tensioner while I attach the belt.

Of course now I have a tilt claim and can reach it easily from the top.
One belt change aggravation pays for the tilt clam.

Jim,

Thanks for the advise. We have to put the belt back on tonight and will figure something out, infact I better call my buddy DaveSki and remind him to bring a tool or two that we can use.

If we need to cut down a socket we better get going on that one. I see the need for the breaker bar as you cannot get a ratchet in there.

Is there no one else installing their BWR right now? I figured this thread would be hopping with stories, questions and photos. If I am the first one done the rest of you should be ashamed as I got mine very late as I was out of the country the last week of the deal.

If there are any others in NorCal that would like help putting theirs on, Dave and I would be happy to assist. Like I said we are having a blast and I have a lift at the house which does help.

Rick

I use a 6 point regular short 19mm socket and either an extending handle socket wrench or breaker bar + long pipe over the handle. Works great!

Fred beat me to it while I was drawing.

I did the belt on my own by using a breaker-bar that was sleeved by a steel pipe that I could slide up the shaft to clear the floor then slide down and touch the floor past 6 o'clock. Attached is a picture for demonstration. Tell me if there is something wrong with doing it this way. The pressure let the pipe stick and I could remove the belt on my own. Essentially you slide the pipe down when its past 6 o'clock and let it catch against the floor.

What periodic service is required if any for the SC? Are there any items (belts ect.) that we should know part numbers in the event we have to purchase parts locally. Is there a list of do's and don'ts when driving a SC vehicle?

The SC manual tells you to check and replace the oil in the SC every now and then, and the oil is a standard Ford part. The belt is a standard goodyear gatorback that has the part number printed right on it. You'd replace the belt at the same interval Lotus tells you to normally replace the belt.

Don't drive slow. It makes the SC depressed and one day you'll wake up and find it's walked out on you.

i use a 12 inch long 3/8 ratchet and a 6 pt socket. it's not so bad once you have done a couple of them.

Yo Nelly! -- I just picked up my baby with THE BWR SC and PES REFLASH -- installed and tuned by EU AUTOWERKS (Toronto & "the Bridge"). I am speechless -- this baby is fast fast fast.

Did you dyno? Would be interested to see how the numbers look since you have an 07.

Congrats, it appears you are first. If I can get my ECU back maybe we can have the distinction of being the first DIY for the group.

Glad you are happy, now I am even more motivated to get it done tonight.

Rick

Wow, this makes my job easier, thanks! We also strongly recommend Race gas on track days and good top tier premium the rest of the time. Change the oil regularly, etc. etc.

I gotto tell you that the car feels lighter, quicker. Especially on the highway -- moving up thru from 3rd to 6 and back down again - car flew like a charm. I was @ 170km - or 105 mph and got there as if I had been unconscious. this is going to be dangerous --

I have noticed that the sound from my stage II exhaust has gotten a little tamer but sweeter. The cam shift @ 5200 is smoother not as much "kick" but a boost.

Courtney @ EU Autowerks did an amazing job at an amazing price.

Wow --

I had an interesting break thru today while on the phone with PES. I was speaking with Tony and he told me that header & decat would not make the car run lean like an intake would. This was somewhat nice news to hear but I am still somewhat skeptical.

It will run leaner with the header & exhaust, however as it is comprehended in the closed-loop control of the ECU, the car will adapt over time. with a different intake, the Mass-Air sensor diameter is changed and thus calibration of the closed-loop control is changed and no adaption will occur.
